With Zachary Levi on his way back to the DCEU, Shazam is set to receive a costume change in Shazam: Fury of the Gods, which is already a massive upgrade from his first suit. In almost every major superhero franchise - whether it be in the MCU or DCEU - it is becoming more common for the leading characters to steadily upgrade their costumes as time goes on. The reasons for this vary from better budgets, practical reasons, and also instances where a creative team may feel the first costume didn't work for whatever reasons and want to switch as quickly as possible. But in some situations, it is for the purpose of the story, such as Tony Stark making his next model armor.

One of the many upcoming DCEU installments is Shazam: Fury of the Gods, which will see Levi back in the light-hearted titular role alongside his family. While most plot details are under wraps, Shazam and his family members will be taking on Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as Hespera and Kalypso, respectively. Filming is underway in Atlanta, Georgia - and as is the case with most superhero movies, set photos have already emerged of Shazam's new suit.

Having already confirmed that Levi would be getting a suit upgrade in Shazam: Fury of the Gods, photos have now come out to reveal the adult Billy Batson's brand new look. While there is obviously no context yet about the new costume, this new upgrade is already one of the best things the Shazam sequel has done. Even though Billy's first suit was always solid, it definitely stood out more from other DCEU costumes - and the new costume certainly improves on the already unique aspects of the outfit, allowing Shazam to further stand out among the DCEU roster.

Shazam strikes a heroic pose outside an abandoned factory in Shazam.

Levi's new look in Shazam: Fury of the God, in tone, blends well together with other super-suits that have been seen in this franchise thus far. While faithful to the comics, his original costume was a little too bright in live-action compared to the other Justice League characters. The new one that is being seen from the Shazam: Fury of the Gods set-photos looks and feels more balanced in color. Even the material seems to be matching the overall DCEU better compared to what Levi wore in Shazam.

It also seems more fitted, meaning it appears to be more comfortable and flexible for Levi. It will be quite intriguing to see how Shazam: Fury of the Gods explains the reason for the upgraded look. Unlike some superheroes, his costume materializes when Billy transforms into Shazam rather than have it on a mannequin or in a cave. It wouldn't be shocking if Billy has managed to use his powers to modify it somehow. It is not like Billy can just take it to a regular tailor and redesign a costume made out of magic. Hopefully soon, a proper official look of Levi's brand new suit will be released from Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
