Billy's siblings will get new costumes in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, director David F. Sandberg has confirmed. Praised for its fun blend of humor and heart, David F. Sandberg's first Shazam! movie came as a light at the end of the tunnel for DCEU after the repetitive lackluster performance of major tentpoles like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. The light-hearted film followed the story of Asher Angel's Billy Batson, a troubled orphan, whose encounter with an ancient wizard leads him to acquire the ability to transform into a full-grown superhero (Zachary Levi). In the original movie, Billy faces off against the cunning Dr Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) and the Seven Deadly Sins with the help of his superpowered foster family. And now a sequel is seeking to expand his story by further digging into the comics lore and depicting individual evolutions of each of Billy's siblings.

Shazam! Fury of the God is among several the DCEU films currently undergoing production, including The Flash, The Batman, and Black Adam. But while other movies are filming towards their release next year, Shazam! 2 isn't scheduled to come out until June 2, 2023. Originally the film was supposed to premiere in April 2022, but it was delayed multiple times due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the US. While the film's release is still far away, Sandberg wants to complete work on the movie as soon as possible because he fears that if he waits longer, the young actors would grow too mature to convincingly play their teenage parts. Sandberg is also sprucing up some aspects from his previous feature. This includes the costumes of the main superheroes, which will be decidedly different in the new film.

Sandberg answered some popular fan questions about Shazam! Fury of the Gods through his Instagram stories. One question concerned with the superhero costumes of Billy's siblings, asking if they would also receive an upgrade in the new movie. Sandberg replied in the affirmative, saying that it "would be weird if they didn't" get upgrades.

Shazam 2 Family

Only a few days back, a detailed look at Zachary Levi's new Shazam 2 costume was unveiled. It sheds the generally lambasted padding of the original ensemble, and it incorporates deeper red accents along Levi's arms and sides. There is, quite amusingly, no cape, and the gold-plated gauntlets are also visibly fancier. The design is complex, yet more realistic, and it's stylishly elevated by silver accessories that run across the top. When Levi's new look for Shazam! 2 dropped, it became almost inevitable that other superheroes would get also costume upgrades. The same was teased by actor Ross Butler, who stars as Billy's video game-obsessed foster brother Eugene Choi. Now, there is an official confirmation about the new costumes, and it's hyping fans up for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Although it's now clear that Billy and his foster siblings are all getting new suits for Shazam! 2, fans shouldn't expect to catch a glimpse of them anytime soon. The release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is still pretty far away, and a trailer isn't currently in view. But Sandberg wants to keep audiences hooked to his film, as it's happening so late after the first movie, so he makes sure to put out a lot of exciting teasers and trolling. This means that he might offer a look at some of Billy's foster siblings' new get-up ahead of the official release, so fans should, regardless, be on the lookout. It's not clear if the rest of the outfits will look similar to Shazam's but considering that the new movie intends to explore each sibling's individual journey, it would make sense if all the costumes are distinct.
