Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg "leaks" the ending to the DCEU film in a funny video. Sandberg will return to the DC world once more with Fury of the Gods, his second film in the franchise following 2019's Shazam. That film introduced Billy Batson (Asher Angel) to the DCEU, telling his origin story as he gained his ability to turn into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) whenever he says the word "Shazam." Compared to the darker installments of the franchise, Shazam was a bright burst of humor and color, and it earned positive reviews from fans and critics.

Billy will take center stage again with Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and this time around, he'll be aided by his foster siblings. The previous film saw them gain the same powers as Billy, and the sequel is expected to have them join forces. Billy will likely need all the help he can get, since Shazam: Fury of the Gods is poised to have two goddesses as villains. In some impressive casting news, both Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu have signed on as the DCEU film's antagonists. Mirren will play Hespera, while Liu will portray her sister Kalypso.

With those buzzy castings in mind, there's an even greater interest in learning Shazam: Fury of the Gods' plot. Still, as curious as fans may be, Sandberg isn't giving anything away. At least, he isn't giving anything real away. On Reddit, Sandberg posted a video of someone (presumably himself) walking through the hallways of the Shazam 2 production offices. Upon entering his office, he flips through the film's "script" and zooms in on the last line: "I guess the real Justice League was the friends we made along the way." Talk about an ending!

Sandberg is steadily building up a reputation for playfully trolling fans on social media, and this might be one of his most amusing stunts yet. While Billy is in fact a member of the Justice League in the comics, fans probably shouldn't expect him to meet any people from the iconic team in Fury of the Gods. Though there were rumors that Henry Cavill would cameo in the film as Superman, they have since been debunked. Nevertheless, there might still be some references to the broader DC universe in the film that can make fans smile.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods has seen its release date pushed back multiple times over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it currently stands slated for June 2023. Despite that two-year-plus gap between now and the movie's release, production is expected to begin next month. Levi has already begun his training. Perhaps once filming gets closer, Sandberg will see fit to reveal some actual plot details about Shazam: Fury of the Gods as opposed to just silly "leaks."
