Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg unveils the first official look at the entire Shazam family's new costumes. Following the success of 2019's Shazam, Warner Bros. greenlit a sequel with Sandberg back at the helm. The first movie followed the origins of young hero Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who is granted the ability to turn into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) whenever he says the word "Shazam." Shazam 2 is currently slated to arrive in theaters in 2023. However, despite that date still being two years away, production on the film has already begun.

With plot details still being kept under lock and key, most of the news surrounding Shazam 2 has been about new cast members and updated costumes. When it comes to the former, the DCEU sequel will have a pair of very impressive villains going up against the heroes: Helen Mirren (as Hespera) and Lucy Liu (as Kalypso). West Side Story breakout Rachel Zegler has also joined the cast. Additionally, Shazam 2 will include the returns of Billy and his foster siblings, all of whom are getting new costumes.

After teasing the arrival of said costumes for a while now, Sandberg decided to get ahead of a potential leak by posting an image of the adult cast in their full, updated suits on Monday morning. From left to right, that's Adam Brody (Freddy), Meagan Good (Darla), Ross Butler (Eugene), Levi, Grace Fulton (now playing both versions of Mary), and D.J. Cotrona (Pedro). Check it out below.

This time around, the colors for the Shazam family's suits appear to be more muted than before, and also made of a new material. Overall, the Shazam 2 costumes feel less cartoonish than they did in the first film, which could perhaps hint at a more serious conflict ahead. Mary's costume appears to be the one that has changed the most, with the longer sleeves and tighter skirt. Overall, Shazam 2's suits are the right level of new and old, and it'll be exciting to see the family jump into action while wearing them.

These days, it's common for bits of superhero movies to get revealed online through leaks and set photos, so it was smart of Sandberg to reveal Shazam 2's new costumes on his own. Previously, only Levi's had been glimpsed through set pics, while an official video showed some of the details of the suit in extreme closeup. Now, though, all of the Shazam siblings stand tall and proud in their updated looks. It's hard not to get insanely excited about Shazam 2 while looking at these costumes. If that was Sandberg's intention, then mission accomplished.
