Stefan Kapičić has confirmed that Shatterstar will appear in Deadpool 2, which is currently being promoted as the Untitled Deadpool Sequel.

The first official Deadpool 2 trailer took fans by surprise when it debuted last week after the Super Bowl. While there was a lot to digest from the trailer, one particularly intriguing scene saw Deadpool and some mysterious allies about to disembark from a helicopter. Eagle-eyed fans swiftly spotted Terry Crews, and it's commonly believed he's playing the part of G.W. Bridge, but as the scene was examined even more closely, fans began to speculate that Iron Fist's Lewis Tan could be playing Shatterstar.

In an interview with Inverse, Stefan Kapičić, who plays Colossus in the Deadpool movies, confirmed that Shatterstar does, in fact, appear in the trailer. "That’s not CGI of Terry Crews, that is Terry Crews. You can see it clearly. You can see behind him, Shatterstar, a really cool thing for people to geek out."

In the comics, Shatterstar is a skilled warrior who's traditionally been allied with Cable. He actually originates from another dimension and was trained in martial arts that are otherwise unknown on Earth. Shatterstar's weapon of choice is a strange, double-bladed sword. And he can charge energy down that blade, using it to create powerful shockwaves.

In May of last year, there were rumors that Deadpool 2 would feature a number of new characters, including Shatterstar. At the time, Deadpool 2 co-writer Rhett Reese denied the report, but the trailer clearly seemed to show Shatterstar's distinctive costume. Certainly, the character has always been well-known for the strange design of his helmet, and that seemed distinctly visible.

While it's surprising to hear Kapičić confirming a fan-theory, it's important to note that he doesn't give too much away. Fans have speculated that Tan may be playing the part, but Kapičić doesn't confirm that. What's more, he avoids revealing whether or not the assembled team is actually X-Force or the Six Pack. In the comics, the Six Pack were a team of mercenaries assembled by Cable. The military style of the trailer seems to suggest this is, indeed, the Six Pack. After all, five characters are visible. Add Cable to that count and the Six Pack is complete.

Shatterstar, however, has never been a member of the Six Pack. Shatterstar only teamed up with Cable as a member of X-Force. That raises two intriguing possibilities; either Fox has subtly redesigned the Six Pack for Deadpool 2, or this is actually the first big screen version of X-Force. Fox has never been particularly worried about adapting the comics to suit their needs. The first Deadpool film, for example, radically transformed the character of Negasonic Teenage Warhead. That means either option is possible. Still, one thing's for certain: Kapičić has now confirmed that Shatterstar is appearing in Deadpool 2.
