Dancing With The Stars season 31 contestant Shangela has a sweet way of acknowledging the eliminated competitors and their professional dance partners after they have left the show. Shangela is making history as the first drag performer to dance on DWTS. She and her partner Gleb Savchenko started out strong in week 1 with four scores of 7 from the DWTS judges, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli, and they have moved steadily upward, earning all 8s for their Disney+ Night dance. Shangela has brought her positive energy to the ballroom and is a ray of light each week on DWTS.

As DWTS season 31 pairs are eliminated each week, Shangela acknowledges them with detailed, personalized Instagram posts, including photographs and videos and showering them with praise. She is the only one who honors those who exit the competition on social media, and, based on the stars' reactions to the posts, they appreciate the recognition. Shangela began writing these messages after DWTS week 1, when Jason Lewis and his partner Peta Murgatroyd were the first to go home. She gave a behind-the-scenes glimpse into her relationship with Jason by writing, "Cameras didn’t get to show our fun convos in the rehearsal studio, the way you made me feel so comfortable as a drag diva tippin around the set, the help u gave me when my shoulder was on fire, and allll that work u really put into your dance rehearsals." She added, "you’ve made a friend in me and I know you’ll continue to do awesome stuff." Shangela also gave a shout out to Peta, saying, "gurl you know ur stunningly gorgeous, wildly talented, and the absolute sweetest."

After DWTS Elvis Night, Shangela wrote a goodbye message to Teresa Giudice, calling her a "real one," and saying that she was "so kind" to her. Shangela also praised Teresa's professional dance partner Pasha Pashkov for being "a true Pro and shining light with moves!" When Cheryl Ladd and Louis van Amstel went home during DWTS Bond Night, Shangela wrote, "Honey, there is truly a Charlie’s ANGEL among us, and her name is @angelcherylladd . Miss Cheryl, you are a beautiful lady who represents strength, talent and elegance and I feel honored to have danced alongside you on this journey." She also wrote to Louis, calling him a "supreme pro dancer" and "quite the legend." The latest DWTS duo to leave the show was Sam Champion and Cheryl Burke. Shangela wrote, "Sam Champion is a true CHAMPION ... thank you for glowing me up at every encounter. Your big heart, warm smile and booming laughter … You can forecast sunshine bc you ARE the sunshine." She also included "a special shout of praise and bowdown-ification to legendary dancing pro @cherylburke who worked it on the floor nonstop with Sam and consistently showed me so much love!" Shangela concludes every post by asking her followers to show the eliminated couples some love in the comments.

Although DWTS is a competition, Shangela understands that the sixteen contestants and their professional partners on season 31 are experiencing something unique together that only they can truly understand. Her support of them after they leave the DWTS ballroom is refreshing and heartwarming. She allows them to feel seen by acknowledging their hard work and the little things about their personalities that made her friendships with them special. That is the mark of a kind, generous, and selfless person.

Shangela has been a beacon of light and love on DWTS season 31. She exudes joy on the dance floor and brings positivity and happiness. She radiates warmth and accepts people for who they are, finding their greatest strengths and celebrating them. Her Instagram messages to the eliminated contestants are a lovely way to say goodbye to her friends, while also recognizing all that they have achieved on the show. Shangela is truly the heart and soul of DWTS season 31.
