Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings offers a new look at the Mandarin using the Ten Rings' powers. After Marvel Studios' fake introduction of the iconic comic book character in Iron Man 3, the villain is finally debuting in the MCU played by the prolific actor, Tony Leung. In the story, he's named Wen-Wu and is the father of the movie's titular character.

Plot details for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are still tightly under wraps. But, as its release date nears, Marvel Studios is starting to properly promote the movie. Directed by Destin Cretton and starring Simu Liu as the titular character, it's arguably one of the most interesting MCU Phase 4 projects as it introduces a fresh hero into the franchise. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the blockbuster was mostly filmed amidst the coronavirus pandemic. But, in the end, they were able to pull it all off without a single positive case. Additionally, it will also be the first Asian-centered project from the universe as part of its commitment to have better representation in the franchise.

Shared by Marvel Studios' official Twitter account is a brand new teaser for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which reveals that a new full trailer is coming tonight. Despite that, the 15-second clip already features a couple of new shots from the movie, including a better look at Wen-Wu using the powers of the Ten Rings. Watch the video below:

In the comics, the Ten Rings were worn on the fingers, but for the MCU, Marvel Studios updated their look, making them like bangles — five on each hand. While the franchise is known for mostly sticking to its characters' looks from print, this is one change that actually makes sense. Seeing WenWu sporting 10 chunky rings seems silly-looking; at least he can cover them or push the bands up his forearm to conceal them, after all, it doesn't seem like he removes them since it's the source of the Mandarin's powers in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The standout moment in the aforementioned clip is clearly seeing Wenwu's face in the middle of a battle and using the Ten Rings. A portion of this fight scene was included in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' first trailer, but the focus was on his glowing armbands; this is the first time that his face was shown. Unlike the primary setting of the film which is in the modern era, this action sequence appears to take place in ancient times. This makes sense considering that the Mandarin has supposedly been around for a while now in the MCU. Delving into his history in the upcoming blockbuster is needed to fully understand his motivations.
