Kevin Feige stresses the importance of seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters in a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Marvel's upcoming movie. The 25th film in the MCU will introduce Marvel's Master of Kung-Fu, played by Simu Liu, former star of Kim's Convenience. He'll be accompanied by Awkwafina, who will play Katy, Shang-Chi's best friend, and Tony Leung who stars as Wenwu, also known as the Mandarin and the leader of the titular Ten Rings organization. Forced to confront a past he thought he'd left behind, Shang-Chi will have to contend with his family's legacy and step into his own as a hero.

Shang-Chi will release exclusively in theaters on September 3, a departure from Marvel's previous release. Black Widow hit theaters and Disney+'s Premier Access platform on the same day, a decision that spurred star Scarlett Johansson to sue Disney for a loss of backend profits. Many wondered if Shang-Chi would have the same fate as concerns about the Delta variant of the coronavirus continue to grow, but Marvel has continued to reaffirm Shang-Chi's theatrical exclusivity, giving the film a 45-day window before it hits VOD.

Now, in a new featurette from Marvel, Feige once again stresses how much of a spectacle Shang-Chi is and how it's worth it to see the film in theaters. First, the video goes behind-the-scenes of one of the most advertised action scenes from the film, a sequence that sees Shang-Chi and Katy face off against Razorfist on a bus as it barrels through the city of San Francisco. Interspersed through the video are comments from the cast and crew before Feige comes onscreen and says, "This film will take your breath away on the big screen and it is as big as anything that we've ever brought to life in the MCU before." The featurette then goes on to show many more behind-the-scenes clips of the making of the various action scenes. Check out the video below:

Marvel is banking big on Shang-Chi's theatrical performance to say the least. Not only will it give the studio an idea of what to do with November's Eternals, but it will also prove whether or not the box office will continue growing. It may also signal to other studios whether they should delay some of the most anticipated upcoming movies of the Fall 2021 slate.

Luckily, Marvel's latest will still be released and, according to early reviews, Feige is certainly right in that Shang-Chi brings some of the best action to the MCU yet. Audiences will be able to judge that for themselves in less than two weeks and after Black Widow delved into Marvel's past, the fact that Shang-Chi is looking to the future makes its theatrical debut all the more exciting.
