Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has officially been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is the 25th entry into the ever-growing MCU. The film, along with the other upcoming MCU releases, had been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but are finally releasing in theaters. After the hybrid release of Black Widow in July, Marvel Studios has said that Shang-Chi will be releasing exclusively in theaters and then on Disney+ 45 days later.

Shang-Chi follows the titular martial arts master character played by Simu Liu as he is forced to confront his past that he left behind years ago. His father, Wenwu (aka The Mandarin), played by Tony Leung, is the leader of the Ten Rings organization, which has been in the MCU before. They were the group that captured Tony Stark in Iron Man, and the character Trevor Slattery (played by Ben Kingsley) in Iron Man 3 was revealed to be an actor playing the part of The Mandarin. Also joining Liu in the film are Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen, and Florian Munteanu. The film is leaning into the martial arts roots of the characters, with critics saying the action is some of the best seen in the MCU.

Now, Shang-Chi has been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. As of the time of this article being written, the film sits at 92% on the site. Critics have been saying that the film still sticks to the familiar yet successful Marvel Studios formula, but does quite a bit to change it up. This is another origin story film for the MCU, and some critics seem to believe it is one of the best yet.

Many of the critics have also been praising the performances in the film, especially for Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tony Leung as The Mandarin. Fans have also been excited to see the actual Mandarin in a film for a while now, and it seems like they will likely be happy with how he is portrayed. Another focus on these reviews has been the action sequences. Many of the reviews are praising how exciting and new these feel, with many saying the movie has the best action ever seen in a Marvel Studios film. This film seems to be very refreshing for the MCU, as some have been wondering how Marvel Studios can change up the formula and deliver something new.

The upcoming movie will mark the first time audiences will see Shang-Chi in the MCU. It seems as though he could be a major character going forward, with the possibility of him becoming part of the new Avengers roster. A sequel to the film has been talked about publicly by Liu, but has not been officially announced by Marvel Studios, so there is a possibility that he could show up there. Until then, fans can see what the reviewers are praising when Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3.
