Simu Liu teases the action sequences in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, saying it's unlike anything seen in the MCU before. Marvel's landmark 25th film will feature the franchise's first Asian superhero and anticipation is high for the film. Shang-Chi has had several release dates before landing on its current one of September 3. Liu will play the film's titular character, a San Francisco transplant who is drawn back into the Ten Rings organization and must confront his mysterious past. Along for the ride is Awkwafina as Katy, Shang-Chi's best friend who is unaware of his past training.

Specifics about the movie's story are being kept under wraps, but the first trailer for Shang-Chi teased the epic action to come. From the city bound fight sequences in San Francisco to epic battles set in what looks to be the past, the film has a lot going for it. Still, much mystery surrounds Shang-Chi, as is typical for a Marvel film, especially one that is launching a new hero. That hasn't stopped Liu from teasing what is sure to be an exciting ride, though.

Speaking to E! Online, Liu talked about the film's action sequences, touting them as featuring things that have never been seen before in the MCU. The actor even goes on to say that it may be unlike anything any action fans have seen anywhere, personally promising that viewers will be blown away. Liu capped off the comments by professing how excited he is for the film, something the actor has expressed before.

I promise that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is going to deliver action sequences in a way that MCU fans, or any fans, have never seen before, and that is [a] personal promise. You can stamp it, you can quote it, you can guarantee it. You guys are in for a treat, for sure. And I'm so excited.

Simu Liu in Shang-Chi Movie Trailer

Liu's excitement for Shang-Chi is palpable and the hype for the film is very real. After 23 films and over a decade of turning out content, the MCU has had to find new and exciting ways to portray their heroes in order to keep fans coming back for more. With Marvel entering the streaming field, they've begun experimenting with different styles of action as seen in WandaVision and the teasers for upcoming series Loki. Still, the studio has something to prove on its theatrical side, especially with two years in between their last theatrical release and the upcoming Black Widow.

While Black Widow looks to be a return to the MCU's more grounded fare thanks, in part, to the hero at its center, Shang-Chi will change all of that as the second of four films coming out this year. That pattern seems likely to continue with Eternals eons-spanning storyline and Spider-Man: No Way Home's Multiverse adventures. Still, it's clear that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be one of the studio's most exciting new entries.
