Warning: contains spoilers for She-Hulk #4!

After fighting with nearly every single main member of the Avengers, Shang-Chi is in deep legal trouble and has exhausted all peaceful options to resolve a dispute - so he's decided to hire She-Hulk as his lawyer. The Master of Kung-Fu has spent the past year battling the Avengers as well as Shang-Chi's own family in an attempt to reconcile both of his longstanding alliances. Now in the pages of She-Hulk #4, Shang-Chi needs legal representation - but it may not be enough to save him.

In Shang-Chi's 2021 story arc, Shang-Chi vs the Marvel Universe, he officially took over his father's criminal organization. Now the Supreme Leader of the Five Weapons Society, he decided to reform the organization to act as a force for good - but this offended his traditional family, who despise weakness of all sorts. The various Avengers, including Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine and the Fantastic Four, each believe Shang-Chi's intentions are not pure; they aim to put a stop to his organization no matter the cost. Shang-Chi is not to be trusted, even by his friends.

In She-Hulk #4, written by Rainbow Rowell with art by Luca Maresca, the Thing of the Fantastic Four forwards many clients directly to Jennifer Walters. She finds nearly a dozen superheroes and super-powered beings sitting in her office, each waiting for an individual appointment. Seated between Nova and Reed Richards is Shang-Chi himself, no doubt looking for legal advice from She-Hulk. Richards looks rather nonplussed to see Shang-Chi on the couch, and considering his battle with the entire Fantastic Four, it's not hard to see why.

In an attempt to travel to the Negative Zone to rescue his mother, Shang-Chi and his family traveled to the Baxter Building, forced an evacuation of civilians and used Reed Richard's dangerous equipment without permission. A battle follows and the building sustains tremendous damage. Reed Richards and the other members of the Fantastic Four are seen as celebrities in the Marvel Universe, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that someone could have sued Shang-Chi for his involvement in the fight.

Shang-Chi also caused damage in China during his most recent fight to reclaim the Ten Rings for the Jade Emperor. Unfortunately, She-Hulk almost certainly does not have a license to practice law outside of the United States; she most likely cannot help Shang-Chi in this regard. But if the members of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers sue Shang-Chi in court, at least he'll have the power of She-Hulk on his side...if the lawyer (who has fought alongside Richards while on the team more than once) will even hear him out.
