Eternals star Gemma Chan shares a sweet photo with fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star, Shang-Chi's Simu Liu, from this year's Met Gala. Chan previously made her MCU debut in Captain Marvel as Minn-Erva, a Kree tactical sniper hunting down the titular hero and the Skrulls throughout the universe. In Eternals, Chan stars as Sersi, the empathetic member of the titular group who has built a strong connection with humanity over the centuries and can manipulate inanimate matter.

Liu recently made his MCU debut with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as its titular hero who finds himself forced to leave the normal life he's led behind and is drawn back into the clandestine world of his father's Ten Rings criminal organization as they reemerge in the world. Hitting theaters nearly two weeks ago, the film proved to be a smash hit for Marvel Studios, breaking multiple records including the largest Labor Day opening weekend previously set by Rob Zombie's Halloween remake and scoring rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Its success cemented Marvel's plan to keep Eternals as an exclusive theatrical release for this November.

Following their appearances at this year's Met Gala, Chan took to Twitter to reveal a sweet photo she took with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Liu. The Met Gala proved an interesting moment for Liu as he used the numerous glamorous photos to poke fun at his old stock photos from early in his career, though some on social media have still found some radiating with the same energy as said photos. That being said, Chan's photo with her fellow MCU star should come as more of a sweet moment for fans rather than one worth of being made into a meme, namely as both are also major voices for representation in the franchise. Liu's film has been praised for its Asian representation and the star himself frequently voiced his efforts to ensure this remained true in the lead up to its release, including the incident in which Disney CEO Bob Chapek referred to the film's release as an "experiment."

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings now out and dominating the box office, Marvel fans are turning their eyes to the impending arrival of Eternals and Chan's return to the MCU in a new role. Studio head Kevin Feige has built anticipation for Chan's role in the film, believing her to be the true lead character and applauding co-writer/director Chloé Zhao's decision to cast the Captain Marvel star in the role. One can only hope after Eternals' arrival on November 5 that Chan's Sersi and Liu's Shang-Chi will be able to share the screen in a future MCU project.
