Warning! Spoilers ahead for Shang-Chi #6

Marvel's Shang-Chi just insulted Thor in the worst way. Due to Shang-Chi inheriting his late father's criminal empire, his fellow heroes in the Marvel Universe have come to distrust the martial arts master, and the latest issue of Shang-Chi sees them finally deciding to confront him. While Shang-Chi initially thought he and his siblings would just be facing Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Mr. Fantastic, Thor made a surprise appearance. Still, Shang-Chi proved himself to be more than a match for the King of Asgard while also breaking one of the God of Thunder's biggest rules from the MCU.

In previous issues of Shang-Chi, from Gene Luen Yang and Dike Ruan, the titular hero has been struggling to transition the Five Weapons Society from a criminal empire into a force for positive change in the world. His efforts have received some pushback from his captains, the half-siblings he's only recently reunited with following their father's death. However, some of them aren't happy with the new direction he's taking with the Five Weapons, orchestrating to continue the organization's illicit activities behind Shang-Chi's back, making Shang-Chi look like a villain to his fellow Avengers. As such. they've decided that he needs to be taken down in Shang-Chi #6.

In the latest issue, Shang-Chi's forces outnumber Earth's Mightiest Heroes. However, Iron Man calls in some major air support in the form of Thor. This prompts Brother Sabre to give Shang-Chi the Ten-Fist Sword to even that odds, seeing as how it once belonged to Takemikazuchi, the God of Blades and Thunder. Weilding the weapon and using the newfound power it provided him, Shang-Chi was able to hold his own against Thor - much to the King of Asgard's surprise. During the scuffle, he also manages to cut Thor's hair, a major insult considering how protective the God of Thunder is of his golden locks both in the comics and in the MCU.

While the Ten-Fist Sword was eventually revealed to be a transmuted Cosmic Cube, it still provided Shang-Chi with the same power had he been wielding the real blade of Takemikazuchi. Furthermore, it also confirmed Brother Sabre's decision to secretly keep the Cube, resulting in Shang-Chi turning over his brother to the Avengers and establishing an uneasy cease-fire with the heroes (while creating even deeper rifts with the rest of his family).

While Shang-Chi might have lost friends and family members thanks to his position as a leader, at least he can say he managed to do what very few others have done: harming the God of Thunder's hair and living to tell the tale. While the Avengers still largely mistrust Shang-Chi and his new role, it seems as though reforging a relationship with Thor will be the most difficult after insulting his majestic and flowing locks.
