Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has revealed that they have plans for a sequel to the upcoming MCU film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This film will be Marvel Studios' 25th film in their ever-expanding cinematic universe. The MCU films have grossed a combined $22.9 billion at the global box office, resulting in a great purchase for Disney.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will follow the titular character of Shang-Chi played by Simu Liu. It follows Shang-Chi as he lives in San Francisco, trying to stay away from his previous life that he escaped from: being the son of The Mandarin (played by Tony Leung), the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization. This group is responsible for some events that took place in the MCU, including capturing Tony Stark in the original Iron Man. It also takes place after Avengers: Endgame, so the film will acknowledge what happened in that film and after. Shang-Chi will also star Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Meng'er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Benedict Wong.

Now, Kevin Feige has talked about what is next for Shang-Chi and the world that will be established in his solo film. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Feige talks about what Marvel Studios has planned for Shang-Chi 2 without giving much away since Marvel is notoriously secretive. Check out what Feige said below:

"The early reactions to the characters and to [Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings] itself gives me great hope that that people will want to see more of these characters," Feige says. "We certainly have many ideas of where to take them and where to put them. And as exactly as you say, what's so fun, we know the movie's working when it's not just the title character that people ask about, but it is the co0stars or the supporting players that people ask about. And in this movie in particular, that's heartening because we think they're spectacular, and we think they have great potential in the future."

It is no surprise that Feige did not give away much of their plans, but it is nice to hear him say that there is more in store for the character of Shang-Chi. Talking about the end credits scene of the film is something of note, so it is clear that he must think that the scene will be very important for the MCU going forward. Since the film has not been released for the general public yet, there is no official word on what the scene is. It could be something related to events that take place in Shang-Chi, potentially setting up a new villain or group. It could also set up more connections to the wider MCU, and since Phase 4 seems to be focusing more on team-ups, it could potentially have an Avenger show up.

There is clearly more in store for Shang-Chi, so fans will have to wait to see what happens with a sequel or another project he could show up in. Feige has teased that there is something for a sequel in the works, so it is just a matter of time until the official word is out on a sequel. Until then, viewers can check out Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings when it hits theaters on September 3.
