The finale of Shameless will premiere very soon. It is hard to truly accept this, as the series has been a significant part of television for over a decade now. Yet, it seems as though the story is ending at the perfect time, especially with what recently happened to Frank. There is a lot to look forward to in the final episode because of this, as fans are desperate to see how the story ends. Also, given the circumstances, there is a real chance that some former characters could reappear.
With this show being in production for so long, there are a lot of spectacular choices for them to bring back one last time. It is apparent that fans of the series miss a lot of the characters from previous seasons, so it would receive a lot of praise if these returns come to fruition. The likelihood of certain returns may vary per person, but nonetheless, they all would be welcomed with open arms.
Fiona
Fans still miss Fiona immensely, so it is apparent that she needs to return for the finale. Considering how Frank is at a minimum, in very rough shape, she likely will want to see him if the worst is going to come.
Also, she has not come back to visit her siblings since leaving. She never met Lip's son, Freddie, and hasn't seen Carl now that he's a cop. There is a lot that she is missing, so it would be awesome to let her see it all in the final episode.
Jimmy
If Fiona comes back, there is that hope that perhaps Jimmy will accompany her. Now, Jimmy is a very flawed character during his time in the series, as his life of crime ends up consuming him in the end.
However, with Fiona leaving Chicago, maybe the show will announce that the two ended up reuniting. Although this may be a long shot, it is clear that Jimmy is the partner that Fiona cares the most deeply about in the show.
Karen
When Karen leaves Shameless, it is under very sad circumstances. Mandy infamously runs her over with her car, and she understandably receives bad injuries as a result of this.
However, there is a glimmer of hope that she does recover, as she wakes up from her coma in the end. It would be awesome to see that she's progressing from the state fans last see her, even if she was a terrible person before all of this.
Sheila
Sheila needs to return in the series finale. She is one of the most beloved characters of the series to this very day, even if she has been gone for quite some time now. She is essentially a motherly figure to the Gallagher kids, too.
She also does have a relationship with Frank at certain points of the series, so her coming back for him is not out of the realm of possibility. Fans have been wanting to see her again since she left, so Shameless needs to make it happen.
Mikey
One of the most underrated parts of the more recent seasons is the close friendship between Mikey and Frank. This is especially the case in Mikey's final season on the show, as the two are inseparable and cause lots of mayhem.
If this is truly the end for Frank, the show needs to find a way to let Mikey pay his respect to him. Mikey is of course in prison at this time, but perhaps they would let him visit Frank, given the severity of the circumstances.
Sammi
Sammi is not a character that fans are particularly fond of, but it would make sense for her to make one last return. She is another character who is currently in prison, with her crime being more severe.
After all, she is one of Frank's children, so it would be justifiable. Perhaps she could even cause one last string of conflict for the Gallagher family, as that is her specialty.
Chuckie
If Sammi does indeed come back, Chuckie would need to join the party, too. He is a character who gets wrapped up in criminal activity without understanding what is even happening. He goes to Juvenile Hall with Carl as a result of this.
It would be interesting to see what Chuckie has been up to since leaving the series. Hopefully, he is no longer in that lifestyle and the show ends up having him redeem himself if he does in fact return. Carl was far worse than Chuckie at that point of the show, so it definitely is possible.
Mandy
Mandy and Ian's friendship is among the best of the entire series. Therefore, it would make her coming back such a nice treat, even if it's for a short part of the episode. Considering the fact that she is his sister-in-law now, too, it is a necessity.
The primary obstacle that could keep this from happening is the toxic relationship between her and Lip in earlier seasons. Yet, if it does comes to fruition, it would be greatly appreciated by fans.
Jody
Jody is a side character that is easy for fans to love. He is not necessarily the smartest of people, but he does provide a lot of hilarity with how strange he is. Also, his dedication to taking care of Karen after her accident is quite admirable.
If Karen and Sheila come back, it would be perfect to see the complete trio with Jody, too. It would be great to hear more about their time together on the open road.
Monica
Although Monica of course passes away in Season 7, it would be interesting to see the show utilize a flashback between her and Frank. This is something the show never really does in its run, so seeing it in the finale could be a nice twist.
Although Monica and Frank are bad parents, it would be nice to commemorate them with a happy memory that shows them actually being good. This show does not have too many feel-good moments with the family, but this episode could open the door to one.
