The Team Rocket Takeover event has returned Pokémon GO, giving players a chance to catch a Shadow Mewtwo. Shadow Mewtwo is a very rare type of Shadow Pokémon and currently can only be obtained by completing the Ultra Beast Protection Efforts Special Research before November 17th. Shadow Pokémon are dark, corrupted Pokémon that take and receive more damage in battle, only available to players level 8 and above. They can be purified if shown enough love through copious amounts of Stardust and Candy.

Team Rocket's Shadow Pokémon are not new to Pokémon GO, and there have already been several Shadow Legendaries brought into the game in previous events. The player will encounter Shadow Mewtwo after they complete the first three stages of the special research, which is no small thing. Each stage has three tasks, each one giving individual rewards along the way. There's only one encounter with Shadow Mewtwo, so the player should use as many Razz Berries and Ultra Balls as they can to maximize the chance of success.
