Shadow and Bone season 2 episode titles have been revealed and tease new story details for the popular Netflix series. Season 1 was released in 2021 and adapted storylines and characters from author Leigh Bardugo's Shadow & Bone trilogy and Six of Crows duology. Season 2 will continue this approach by adapting the storylines from each novel series simultaneously, with the various characters and storylines eventually converging as the season progresses.
Released by Netflix, the season 2 episode titles give a better idea of how Alina Starkov's story from the Shadow and Bone trilogy and Kaz Brekker and the Crows' story from the Six of Crows duology will be balanced in the new season. Here are the episode names below:
- Episode 1: “No Shelter but Me”
- Episode 2: “Rusalye”
- Episode 3: “Like Calls to Like”
- Episode 4: “Every Monstrous Thing”
- Episode 5: “Yuyeh Sesh (Despise Your Heart)”

What The Episode Titles Mean For Season 2
Shadow and Bone season 2 co-showrunners Eric Heisserer and Daegan Fryklind explain that each title has a specific meaning. The season 2 premiere, "No Shelter but Me," is a line from Ruin and Rising, the third and final book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy. Heisserrer explains that "‘No Shelter but Me’ felt like a good descriptor for the fact that both Alina and Mal and our Crows find themselves without any allies and in some pretty deep trouble.”
Even though Alina and the Crows went their separate ways at the end of Shadow and Bone season 1 and are now on different journeys, their stories will still have parallels and be thematically linked when season 2 begins. As for episodes 5 and 6, the episode titles are proverbs from the Shu Han people. Fryklind explained that "Those two episodes are very tied together. They’re a real call and response.” These episodes may show the Shu Han territory for the first time in the series or may connect back to Alina's Shu heritage.
Episode 7, "Meet You in the Meadow," and episode 8, "No Funerals," are references to lines that were repeatedly stated in season 1. "Meet you in the meadow" is something Alina and Mal Oretsev said when they were children growing up in an orphanage together, and they also said it as adults, teasing that episode 7 will heavily focus on Alina and Mal's relationship. "No Funerals" is a reference to the Crows' mantra "No mourners, no funerals." Heisserer hinted that these titles indicate Alina and Mal reuniting with the Crows by the end of Shadow and Bone season 2.
