Netflix's Sexy Beasts would be a hit if dating shows had their own alternate universe in the animal kingdom, and we're here to talk about the show's location and its filming timeline. At first, Sexy Beasts, which initially aired in the UK in 2014, didn't get the best reception. Host and comedian Rob Delaney was tasked with introducing viewers to a new take on dating shows. Most prior dating show only managed to showcase contestants by looks and looks alone. Executives at Lion TV, the production company behind Sexy Beasts, didn't like that. They then unearthed a new reality concept that could change the TV dating landscape.

In the global scheme of things, dating reality shows are just another way for alpha males and beauty queens to hook up, party, and sunbathe at some of the best private properties in the world. It would be such a curveball for show creators, such as the producers of Love Island, to come along with a vision that doesn't quite align with what's expected from dating shows. Simon Welton is the Director of Entertainment at Lion TV and has also worked on Big Brother. He got the chance to channel his inner wild side with Sexy Beasts in the show's first UK season seven years ago. He also snatched a second opportunity due to his involvement in the Netflix wildcard, which is getting a season 2. Welton tried to mirror his original concept, including the decision to film in the United Kingdom.

According to Welwyn Hatfield Times, filming officially started in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though that's a major gamble, Welton and his crew didn't go about selecting random and densely populated spots to film Sexy Beasts at. At the time, the English were dealing with the virus outbreak and were placed under lockdown during several different periods. No one could go anywhere or do anything unless it was work and necessary errands, such as grocery shopping. Thankfully, everyone was able to agree on a few places where the couples could mingle, albeit with COVID-19 precautions in mind.

The Sexy Beasts season 1 location chosen was the isolated Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, England. It was a good choice due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns. The estate has been the home of two music festivals and a location for a Little Mix music video. It's also been featured in film and TV productions. Knebworth House was built in the late 15th century, and the manor where the Love Is Blind-inspired show was filmed has been featured in Batman (1989), Jane Eyre, The King's Speech, and Will Ferrell's Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Sleeping quarters aside, cast members took advantage of London's nightlife for date nights at a range of locations throughout the capital city.

Although the show is considered to be breaking barriers, Sexy Beasts kept things traditional by demonstrating a knack for ambiance. Despite its unappetizing name, The "Sexy Beast Manor" at The Knebworth House is by far one of the most beautiful houses in dating show history. It's a location that is a part of English heritage and culture.
