The last time director Jake Kasdan, Cameron Diaz, and Jason Segel worked together, we got the R-rated Bad Teacher, which was successful enough to beget both a television series (premiering Fall 2014) and a sequel. Now Kasdan, Diaz, and Segel have reunited to bring us Sex Tape, which seems to be operating under similarly raunchy, R-rated parameters.
Annie (Diaz) and Jay (Segel) are a married couple who used to be passionately in love, but have long since fallen into a marriage rut, thanks to kids and work and everything else. In an effort to reignite that honeymoon phase spark, Annie suggests they film themselves "becoming intimate."
And boy do they ever! The only problem is, they film themselves using one of those newfangled Apple iPads, which automatically syncs to the iCloud and transfers their sex video to all the iPads they recently gave to family, friends, co-workers, the mailman, and so on. Naturally, high jinks ensue as Annie and Jay set out on a mission to destroy every last iPad with their sex video on it.

The most promising part of the trailer is the obvious chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel. They're funny together and they seem to be having a genuinely good time onscreen. In fact, for the most part, the trailer makes the movie look like a lot of fun.
There are, however, a few moments that fall flat - namely, the "attack dog" bit, which looks cliched and unfunny - but hopefully those moments are few and far between.
Fortunately, Sex Tape's extended cast is pretty great as far as these comedy ensembles go and includes Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), Ellie Kemper (The Office), Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda 3), and Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation).
What say you, Screen Ranters? Did you like what you saw in the trailer? Drop us a line in the comments.
Sex Tape hits theaters July 25th, 2014.
