Season three of Sex Education is now just around the corner and is one of the most highly anticipated seasons of 2021. The second season of the popular Netflix show ended with a bang, as Otis tried to finally make tell Maeve how he truly felt, only for Isaac to delete his message.

As well as that, Jean revealed she was pregnant, Remi split up with his partner in America, and Eric and Adam finally went public with their feelings for each other. With so much to follow up on, there is a lot of possibilities for the third season, but there are certain stories that need to be told during the upcoming episodes.

Jean & Jakob Back Together

At the end of season two, Jean found out that she was pregnant, and while it isn't confirmed, the chances are very high that it is Jakob's baby. The two of them had been in a relationship, and they were a lot of fun together, with Jakob proving himself to be a real match for Jean and her confident therapist personality.

Jakob is obviously going to find out about the baby, and while it certainly might be a shock to him, it would be interesting to see them get back together as a couple. They are well-loved by fans of the show because they were a lot of fun together, and having a baby might be the key to rekindling their love.

Otis Becomes Closer To His Father

Everyone knows that Otis is very protective of his mother, and he likes being her main focus in life. That was showcased by how he dealt with her being in a relationship with Jakob, so finding out that she is pregnant is likely something that Otis is going to stress out about at the start.

This could open the door for him to become much closer with his father, Remi. He returned to Otis' life in season two and seeing them become a lot closer on the back of the pregnancy announcement could open up a new style of relationship for Otis' life.

The Groff Family Work Out Their Problems

Maureen Groff

Speaking of families, things haven't gone well for the Groffs so far in Sex Education. Adam has constantly had problems with his father, and in season two, his mother, Maureen asked his father for a divorce. To top it off, he was put on a leave of absence at the end of season two.

It's certainly been a downhill journey for Professor Groff, but now he's seemingly hit rock bottom, the only way is up for him now. It would be nice to see the start of a redemption storyline for him as he learns about who his son really is, and tries to revive the relationship with his wife, attempting to save his family and his job.

Aimee's Confidence Returns

Sex Education

Aimee's storyline in season two was one of the most emotional, as she was sexually assaulted during her bus journey to school. It was an important story to tell and the show did it brilliantly, showing the mental turmoil that these situations can have on someone. It also pushed for female empowerment as her friends stood by Aimee's side and helped with her anxiety.

At the end of the season, they all joined her on the bus to help build her confidence about getting back on transport. While it won't be an immediate change, season three should slowly bring back Aimee's confidence, proving she's not going to let this incident bring her down.

Sean Wiley Returns

Sean Wiley

After disappearing at the end of season one, now is the time to bring Maeve's troublesome brother, Sean, back into the show. He had plenty of secrets and some interesting potential storylines on the show, with his drug-dealing clearly being an issue for him.

Following the emotional finish to season two for Maeve and her mother, there's a great story to be told with the family in season three, and Sean should be part of that.

Eric & Adam Break Up

Adam and Eric subtly hold hands

While seeing Eric and Adam get together publicly at the end of season two was a great moment for each character, there's no doubt that things aren't going to be as smooth sailing as it seems. Adam is still learning about himself, and Rahim even makes it clear to Eric at the very end that he's not sure Adam is ready to fully commit to being in an open relationship.

While some want to see them be together, things are not always that simple. Sex Education often takes its characters on a rollercoaster journey full of ups and downs, and that is likely going to affect their relationship throughout the season.

Isaac & Maeve Become A Couple

Maeve walks away from Isaac

Speaking of a rollercoaster journey that the show has taken its audience on, this has certainly been the case with Maeve and Otis. Everyone is expecting them to end up together at some point, however, that may not happen in season three.

Towards the end of season two it was clear that Isaac had feelings for Maeve, and seeing them become a couple within season three would not be a big surprise. It's another blip in the journey for Maeve and Otis that will continue to keep people hooked.

Explore Anwar's Relationship

Anwar

So far, Anwar has been shown mainly as a supporting character as he gives quick remarks to other characters, often being rude as he judges everyone. However, towards the end of season two, he was given more of a focus outside of that, with his relationship between him and Nick being shown.

This is something that needs to be followed up on during the third season, as it would add a lot more depth to his character, while also creating another relationship for the show to work with at points.

Ruby's Family Life Is Explored

Towards the end of season three, Ruby opened up about the fact her father is diagnosed with MS, which showed her in a very different manner. She was open and honest with Otis, rather than just being mean and making harsh comments towards people like she has done previously.

It opens up a major storyline opportunity for the show, and fans are keen for the softer side of Ruby to be shown continuously. Giving a closer look into her home life would be a very emotional storyline, but one that could benefit a lot of people in similar positions, which is something Sex Education has done a great job with throughout.

The Clinic Opens Back Up

Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn and Emma Mackey as Maeve Wiley

One of the funniest parts of Sex Education has been the clinic that Maeve and Otis run for the students within the school, as they provide advice for their fellow students' sex problems. In season two, there was a lot less of the clinic because Otis' mother was working in the school, giving free advice, but now that has stopped.

She was fired from the job after her notes ended up going public, and that opens the door for Otis and Maeve to bring the clinic back. While it may no longer be the main focal point of the show, it certainly should still play an element.
