Sex Education season 4 is not going back on their big season 3 Moordale twist and that's a good thing for the show moving forward. Sex Education season 3 brings plenty of changes to the characters and their stories, with Jean having her baby, Eric and Adam breaking up, and Maeve heading off to the United States. However, one major change is coming in season 4 that will allow the show to start fresh and get back to its roots.

The end of Sex Education season 3 revealed that Moordale Secondary School, the school that has been the center point for all the characters thus far, is closing due to a lack of funding. Season 4 appears to be following through with the closing of Moordale in Sex Education, shaking up the show and forcing the characters to attend a new school for their final year. The change is actually good as it promises to keep Sex Education fresh, allowing Otis and the rest of the cast to interact with new characters that could be potential enemies, new friends, or even love interests.

Sex Education Season 4's New School Is Right For The Show

A new school in Sex Education season 4 not only allows for new characters to enter the fray, but will help the show get back to its roots. Sex Education started with a focus on Otis and Maeve's underground sex therapy practice at Moordale. However, it has been a long time in the show since that therapy was the primary focus of the story. Changing schools can help Otis get back to giving sex and relationship advice and return the show to its more grounded beginnings. Sex Education returning to its therapy focus can avoid feeling repetitive for the show as well, because the gang will be at a new school with fresh new characters and sexual problems for Otis to untangle.

How The New School Successfully Explains The Character Exits

Multiple actors are not returning for Sex Education season 4, including the actors for Lily and Ola, but the shocking Moordale twist is the perfect explanation for their departures. The students at Moordale are left to find new schools to attend, and it's unlikely that another school would take on the entire student body of another secondary school. Many of the students will likely end up scattered at different schools. Teachers at Moordale will also have to find jobs elsewhere, opening up the opportunity for the show to both bring in new teachers and keep some fan-favorite administrators from Moordale. The Moordale twist can allow Otis and crew to head to a new school while explaining that other characters had to transfer elsewhere, hence why so many Sex Education characters are not in season 4.

Sex Education season 4 is keeping its season 3 twist and bringing new life to the show by closing Moordale and sending the characters to a new school. With season 4 likely to be the show's last, a school change will bring fresh storytelling and new characters to help the core characters finish out their high school journey. A new school clears out some extra characters on the show and puts the focus back on Otis and the group as they take on a new school, new students, and new sex problems.
