Warning! Spoilers ahead for Sex Education season 3.

Sex Education season 3 leaves several unanswered questions about the future of Moordale Secondary and its students. Netflix's coming-of-age series is back with eight fresh episodes after more than a year-and-a-half wait. Chronicling the lives of the pupils and faculty staff at the British school, Sex Education season 3 saw a lot of drastic changes to the institution which came with the arrival of a new Headteacher, Hope Haddon (Jemima Kirke).

First released in 2019, Sex Education became an instant hit for the streaming giant thanks to its nuanced depiction of the pains and pleasures of teen life. The show has focused on developing a healthy perspective on one's sexuality, and while it mostly centers on the students at Moordale, there are also stories revolving around older cast members such as Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) and Mrs. Groff (Samantha Spiro). This general element is intertwined with the characters' inter and intra-personal relationships.

In its third season, Sex Education is able to maintain its quality storytelling with an interesting overall narrative mixed with compelling personal arcs. The latest term brought in a lot of big changes to Moordale as an institution, as well as the individual lives of its students and faculty members. As with its second season, the series leaves several unanswered questions after season 3 — some of which may very well be a setup for what's to come in Sex Education season 4.

Will Maeve Return To Moordale And Be With Otis?

After more than two seasons of a back-and-forth, Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve (Emma Mackey) finally got together, but only for a brief time. It took the pair a school trip mishap in France to resolve the cliffhanger from Sex Education season 2 finale where Isaac (George Robinson) deleted Otis' love confession voice mail for Maeve. Nevertheless, it's great to see them become a couple. Unfortunately, their new romance had to be cut short as Maeve decided at the last minute to take the opportunity to study in the United States. Otis couldn't be any more supportive of her choice, and she promised that they'll reunite eventually. However, what are the chances that Maeve comes back to Moordale and simply picks up where she and Otis left off? Based on their history, it's possible that it's not going to be that easy for them.

Who’s The Real Father Of Jean’s Baby?

Jean at the hospital in Sex Education

Jean's arc in Sex Education season 3 mainly revolved around navigating her situation as an older expecting mom. While she's happy with her decision to keep the baby, she initially struggled with telling Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt) about the pregnancy. Thanks to therapy, the pair eventually reconciled and attempted to function as a blended family set-up that saw Jakob and Ola (Patricia Allison) move in with the Milburns. Following a harrowing delivery, both Jean and her baby are safe. Jean then received the DNA test result with regard to the biological dad of the newborn and based on her expression, it doesn't seem like it's Jakob as originally presumed. So, whose might it be?

What Happens To Moordale?

Moordale School in Sex Education season 3

The arrival of Headteacher Hope was initially welcomed by the students of Moordale in Sex Education season 3. But she started executing rules that were too restrictive as part of her attempt to rehabilitate the institution's tainted image as a sex school. In the end, the students banded together to protest those overly strict guidelines, but their efforts backfired. While they're able to successfully defy Hope's directives, it's revealed that their antics during Open Day resulted in investors backing out. This means that the school will be sold to developers, while everyone needs to find alternative schooling arrangements moving forward. Is this really the end of Moordale Secondary though?

Will Eric and Adam Get Back Together?

Eric and Adam walking hand in hand through the forest in Sex Education

The end of season 2 saw Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells) get together, and their relationship only deepened in Sex Education season 3. However, while they're clearly attracted to each other, they still faced several hurdles along the way. That included Adam's inability to properly express his thoughts and feelings — something that frustrated Eric, understandably. Rahim's (Sami Outalbali) presence and his history with Eric also caused some issues. Despite trying very hard to keep it together, they eventually break up. Eric initiated the split after he cheated on his boyfriend during a family vacation in Nigeria. But what are the chances that they get past this and eventually reconcile?

Where Did Maeve’s Mom Get The Money?

Aside from her complicated love life, money issues continued to plague Maeve in Sex Education season 3. She almost missed the school trip to France because she couldn't afford it. Thankfully, Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) stepped in and helped with her finances. It caused a brief conflict between the girls, but they eventually patched things up. The whole experience taught Maeve that it's not bad to accept help from others. So, when her mom suddenly came up with the money needed so she could study abroad, she more easily accepted it. However, the series didn't really show where Erin (Anne-Marie Duff) obtained the large sum of cash.

Will Mr. and Mrs. Groff Get Back Together?

Mrs. Groff's separation from Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie) allowed her to reconnect with herself. Throughout Sex Education season 3, she started having more fun and prioritizing herself. But after being reunited with her estranged husband, it seemed as if the Groffs were ready to reconcile. This gave Michael hope, as he was still pining for his ex-wife. However, at the very end, Maureen turned down dinner with Mr. Groff, signaling that she might not be ready to move forward and give their relationship another go. This leaves their status in limbo. Given that, it’s curious to know if there’s still any possibility that they'll fix their marriage.

What Happens To Hope?

The arrival of Hope at Moordale Secondary brought in countless changes so she could fix the school's image. But, she went too far with her rules, and in the end, the students pushed back against her ridiculous mandates, which led to her leaving the school. While it's safe to say that she won't be around moving forward (at least not as prominently), it's still curious what lies in her future, especially in terms of her personal arc. Outside of her job, it's revealed that she had been trying to get pregnant via IVF, and the latest round of treatment seemed to be another failure.

Will Sex Education Season 4 Be The Last?

Sex Education Season 3

At this point, Netflix has yet to officially confirm Sex Education season 4, but considering where season 3 ends, there's a high chance that it's only a matter of time before it's announced. The more interesting question is if the potential next year would be its last. Given the timeline, the primary characters of the show are close to finishing Sixth Form. Once they graduate from Moordale, it makes sense for the series to wrap up altogether. But given its popularity, it's also not outside the realm of possibility that Netflix finds a way to extend its storytelling.
