The series Sex And The City stars Sarah Jessica Parker as the fashionable writer Carrie Bradshaw, tells women's stories and proves that dating is just as interesting as any other potential storyline.

The characters give this show so much energy and they're all different from one another, making it fun to look at what the Chinese zodiac sign of each main player would be. While they all live in New York City and have active dating lives, their motivations and daily lives are unique.

Rat: Charlotte York

Surprised Charlotte York

Charlotte York has gone on many dates in her time and this popular character, played by Kristin Davis, is sweet, old-fashioned, and of course, fashionable.

Charlotte seems like she would have been born in the Year of the Rat, as Rats are intelligent and they can think on their feet and solve issues. They're not very brave, though, which describes Charlotte as she spends a lot of time wishing she could get married and have kids, but she seems nervous to make the right moves.

Ox: Miranda Hobbes

Miranda with her hair up, smiling

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) struggles a lot with whether she wants to settle down and how she can hold onto her strong personality and career if she does. She sounds like someone born in the Year of the Ox as she's ambitious and honesty is important to her.

The Ox will think that their career and family are both really crucial, which is how Miranda feels when she does become a mother and wants to balance it all. They are also super strong.

Tiger: Samantha Jones

Samantha jones Season 3 of Sex and the City

Samantha Jones isn't always likable but Kim Cattrall plays her perfectly. On her own path, Samantha doesn't want a husband or children or anything of that nature. She's spunky and tough and does what she wants.

Samantha would be a Tiger as she's secure, feels great about who she is, and is not afraid to make a move. People love her, as Tigers are popular, but she can be spoiled and annoying at times.

Rabbit: Steve Brady

Steve Brady looking pensive

Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) may be Miranda's one true love but it takes her a while to get there. He's sweet, trustworthy, and loyal, the kind of guy who hangs out and waits for someone to realize that he's worth dating instead of making an impassioned speech about why he would be a great partner. This character would be born in the Year of the Rabbit as he has similar personality traits.

Dragon: Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw Sex and the City

Carrie can definitely be mean and she's definitely a strong personality.

When it comes to her Chinese zodiac, Carrie would be born in the Year of the Dragon. These types are well-suited to leadership roles and they can get mad easily. They're said to be a little harsh with their comments sometimes, which describes Carrie as she offends the other women regularly throughout the series. As a writer who focuses on sex and dating, Carrie can also be very brash when she's penning her weekly column.

Snake: Stanford Blatch

Carrie Stanford SATC

Carrie's pal Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) would be born in the Year of the Snake. Snakes can seem overwhelmed very easily, but they're also goal-oriented and successful in what they put their mind to. These types are smart, enjoy life's finer things, and want to be around people who are rich and fabulous.

Horse: Mr. Big

Chris Noth's character Mr. Big sounds like those born in the Year of the Horse, as they are the kind of people who are happy to be out and about.

Horses like being around a lot of people, going to different events, and they're also funny people with a smart wit. This is exactly what Big is like, as he often spars with Carrie, especially when she's trying to be serious or find out what he's feeling or thinking.

Goat: Harry Goldenblatt

Charlotte and Harry's wedding dinner in Sex and the City

Charlotte's husband Harry (Evan Handler) sounds like he would be born in the Year of the Goat.  These types are nice and have a gentle personality. They care about what they believe in, and for Harry, that's his work as a divorce lawyer and also his faith. He's a great partner for Charlotte, even if she isn't so sure that he's right for her at first.

Monkey: Jack Berger

Ron Livingston played one of Carrie's love interests, Jack Berger, who is a writer just like her.

He's super jealous of Carrie and her book deal, and he can't keep dating her because of how well things are going for her. It's cowardly and tough to watch, but this makes him someone who is born in the Year of the Monkey. Monkeys don't settle down, have a lot of creativity, and like to have a sense of humor about most things in life.

Rooster: Smith

Smith Jerrod looking up in Sex and The City

Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) is a total sweetheart and he would be a great love interest for most people, although of course, Samantha just wants something casual with him.

Smith sounds like a Rooster as he's smart, secure, and brave. As a model, he also does very well in his chosen field. A Rooster's flaw is how full of themselves they can be as they're beautiful and know it, and it's definitely true that Smith is very attractive.

Dog: Aidan Shaw

Aidan and Carrie are trying to fix her computer on SATC

John Corbett's Sex and the City character would love for Carrie to commit to him, which is exactly why he proposes to her. Unfortunately for him, she doesn't want to marry him. People who are born in the Year of the Dog are said to be very sweet and they show their loyalty to the people they care about. Their biggest flaw? They can't really communicate, and it never felt like these two characters were good at talking to each other about how they actually felt, so this works perfectly.

Pig: Skipper Johnston

Skipper Johnston (Ben Weber) is one of Miranda's love interests, and just like those born in the Year of the Pig, he can be gullible but he is also great at following through and keeping his word. Pigs are also very nice, caring people, and that describes Skipper, too, although he is definitely very nerdy.
