Sex and the City was hand-down one of the most iconic series that ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004. It brought to life the importance of the valuable relationships a woman has with her friends while she tries to navigate the dating trenches. It showed viewers how cool New York was in the 1990s and early 2000s and how Carrie managed to pull off designer duds writing for a newspaper. The show also provided its fans with some really good advice.

Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha had unique qualities of their own but maintained solid foundations with each other throughout the show. Sure they might've gotten into fights and kept some secrets for way too long (ahem, Mr. Big), but they were hard to dislike. It's been over 20 years since the last episode aired, save for the movies, and it seems like a good time to rehash some memorable quotes the ladies dished out, as well as quotes that don't make much sense.

Hold Up: I've Been Dating Since I was Fifteen! I'm Exhausted! Where is he? (Charlotte York, Season 3)

Starting out, Carrie and her friends take a ferry to Staten Island to judge the NYC's Fire Department's 'Calendar Contest' and more or less, they all have a bit too much to drink. The next morning, as the women are having breakfast not feeling the best, Charlotte angrily says the iconic quote.

It holds so much emotion because everyone has felt that way in their lives and it's very evident how badly Charlotte wants a "Prince Charming" to come sweep her off her feet.

Makes No Sense: I Couldn't Help But Wonder: Can You Make A Mistake And Miss Your Fate? (Carrie, Season 4)

Carrie pondered a lot while she was holed up in her New York apartment, writing. She used her life experiences to make a living, which is quite smart; but the quote from the "I Heart NY" episode in Season 4 was a head-scratcher.

Mr. Big was moving to California and Carrie once again was finding the right content to write in her weekly column. Someone can't really miss fate if it wasn't fated, to begin with, no? It sounded cool but missed the mark.

Hold Up: After A While, You Just Want To Be With The One That Makes You Laugh (Mr. Big, Season 1)

Right out of the gate, viewers get to meet Mr. Big and his all-mysterious persona. This is one of the first moments viewers got to see the connection between Mr. Big and Carrie and it was magical.

It's a simple quote, it pulls at the heart-strings and it's a moment that can be considered as foreshadowing as (spoiler, but not really) Big and Carrie end up together after many years. That's not to say it was an easy journey, but it was evident they were meant for each other.

Makes No Sense: Oh My God, He's Online - Can He See Me? (Carrie, Season 4)

Ah, Aiden - the one who got away. An unannounced fan favorite and Carrie's second chance at making it work with him. This one doesn't quite make sense because Carrie uses her computer skills for her career, but acts clueless when Aiden logs into an instant messaging system.

She's on the phone at the time and is worried he'll be able to see through the computer. It's an iconic joke, but it also just makes no sense because Carrie has been using a computer for four seasons now.

Hold Up: I'm Someone Who Is Looking For Love. Real Love. Ridiculous, Inconvenient, Consuming, Can't-Live-Without-Each-Other-Love (Carrie, Season 6)

It took a lot to get to Season 6 - numerous relationships, fights, experience, and heartbreaks. Carrie finally gets on with her life in Paris, but it doesn't work out. Mr. Big rushes to the 'City of Love' to rescue her and Carrie lays it all on the line for him.

She's not messing around anymore and demands nothing less than what she deserves. The emotions behind this scene are strong and will be forever remembered.

Makes No Sense: Everyone Needs A Man; That's Why I Rent. If You Own, And He Still Rents, Then The Power Structure Is All Off. It's Emasculating. Men Don't Want A Woman Who's Too Self-Sufficient (Charlotte, Season 2)

Charlotte Smiling

There's a virtual filing cabinet for all of the movies and television show episodes that didn't age well and this is one of them. In fact, this should've been scoffed at back then, but now more than ever, it raises many questions. Charlotte was always looking for love and wanted the perfect life and to be a perfect wife, but this statement makes no sense at all.

If a male doesn't like a female for her ability to be in control of her own life, then he deserves no attention. This show was meant to empower women, not make them feel inferior.

Hold Up: Do Any Of You Have A Completely Unremarkable Friend Or Maybe A Houseplant I Could Go To Dinner With On Saturday Night? (Miranda, Season 4)

Somehow, the most put-together, financially stable woman on the show ended up being the unavailable and unlucky-in-love character throughout the show.

Miranda was wildly focused on her career and her needs, but when she spoke this line out into existence, it was not only funny but also relatable. The dating pool can be a tricky one and as always, Miranda was dishing up the realistic and humorous quotes viewers never want to forget.

Makes No Sense: If You Love Someone And You Break Up, Where Does The Love Go? (Carrie, Season 2)

Carrie was always the one with the quotes and the deep thoughts when it came to relationships, but sometimes, she came off as too dramatic. It's understandable to see where she was going with this one, but it doesn't make sense.

People break up and fall out of love, simple as that, but for the show's drama, they decided to throw this one in here. Carrie had a lot of iconic moments, but this wasn't one of them.

Women Laughing On Rooftop

Speaking of iconic quotes, this one will never go out of style and will remain authentic and relevant forever and always. Friendships are something everyone needs and good ones, to boot. There were a lot of good scenes, situations, and quotes throughout the series and even in the movies to follow, but this one stays put as top five.

When everything in the world is at a constant change, friendships will always be here and will always be something a person needs, no matter what. That's some good writing there!

Makes No Sense: Until He Says, I Love You, You're A Free Agent (Samantha, Season 3)

A lot of Samantha's one-liners were too R-rated, but this one still makes the cut. Samantha was a woman that never let a man slow her down and her self-confidence was admirable; so while her friends were always chasing after relationships, she had advice for them that sometimes stuck and sometimes didn't.

In this case, her views of relationships were a bit skewed and it didn't really make sense. Actually, this piece of advice wasn't very good at all.
