She’s a main character in the manga and anime series, but what kind of powers and abilities does Elizabeth have in The Seven Deadly Sins? Created by Nakaba Suzuki, The Seven Deadly Sins is a long-running fantasy manga adapted into an anime by A-1 Pictures and Studio Deen. Loosely inspired by Arthurian legend, the series takes place in a setting similar to medieval Britain and follows a septet of knights (the titular Seven Deadly Sins) who disband after they were framed for plotting to overthrow the Liones Kingdom.
A decade later, the Seven Deadly Sins are reunited when a princess named Elizabeth seeks their help to reclaim the Kingdom from the clutches of a tyrannical group known as the Holy Knights. For much of the manga and anime, Princess Elizabeth is something of a damsel in distress and often feels powerless compared to the knights she joins forces with. She resents the fact that she often needs saving and is plagued by pangs of insecurity as she feels useless during the many battles her friends fight.
Towards the end of the manga and anime series, however, Elizabeth makes a very important discovery about her true identity that changes everything. It’s eventually revealed that Elizabeth is actually a divine and powerful goddess cursed to continuously reincarnate as a human whenever she regains memories of her past lives. The realization has its drawbacks in that Elizabeth is also cursed to die within three days of regaining her memories, but on the upside, it also unleashes her inner goddess powers.
One of the most powerful abilities that Elizabeth possesses in The Seven Deadly Sins show is a magical technique that is completely unique to members of her goddess clan known as Ark. It allows Elizabeth to create light particles to counteract darkness but can also be weaponized by turning light into explosions, barriers and large blades to fend off enemies. Ark is probably the most powerful weapon Elizabeth has in her arsenal, but it’s complemented by another magical ability called Let There Be Light, where she can shoot drill-shaped projectiles of light to purify darkness – both literal and figurative – by simply crossing her arms.
Ark and Let There Be Light aren’t the only powers that Elizabeth has in The Seven Deadly Sins either. She’s also demonstrated the ability to fly by calling upon her original goddess wings – which are strong enough to carry fellow Seven Deadly Sins character Diane, who is a giant –and can use her empathic powers to persuade people by speaking to their hearts and souls, which on one occasion resulted in her convincing dozens of demons to abandon a battle. Another useful ability Elizabeth demonstrates is the power to heal people – even those who are gravely injured – which she has used to heal both large armies and the whole kingdom of Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins.
