Session: Skate Sim, the upcoming skateboarding simulator from NACON and Crea-ture Studios, has finally announced its release date, which is now set for September this year. It now joins the growing list of confirmed video game releases for 2022, which includes Gotham Knights and Forspoken, to name a few. Session: Skate Sim will be coming to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store as well as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Skateboarding video games are starting to make somewhat of a comeback over the last half decade, from realistic simulators such as Skater XL to unique and creative takes like SkateBIRD. The Tony Hawk series also released remasters of its first two games last year, with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 quickly becoming the franchise’s fastest selling entry. Even the Skate series is coming back with a new entry after over 10 years. While few details have been revealed by publisher EA since it was initially announced back in 2020, new Skate 4 gameplay footage was leaked just recently.

NACON and Crea-ture Studios announced in a press release that Session: Skate Sim will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 22, 2022. Crea-ture also announced that the content introduced during the major February update of the game’s early access version will be improved for Session: Skate Sim’s full release in September. It added that it’s aware of the requests and feedback of the game’s current players and that it will work to meet expectations by the time the game launches.

Session: Skate Sim Gets Release Date

Session: Skate Sim entered early access on Steam way back in September 2019 and Xbox Game Preview in June 2020. Unlike other skateboarding games that take a more creative approach, such as OlliOlli World and its stylistic 2D platforming, Session: Skate Sim sits at the other end of the spectrum, taking simulation-style gameplay to the next level. The new game utilizes “True Stance Stick” controls that allow players to control each of the skater’s feet independently by using the controller’s two analog sticks, similar to the aforementioned Skater XL.

After almost seven years since it was first conceived, Session: Skate Sim will finally be fully released this year, which may encourage more people to try out its unique style of gameplay. Hopefully, it will help the skating genre return to the limelight after its long absence.
