Warning! Spoilers for Servant below.

Will Apple TV+ move forward with Servant season 2? Created and written by Tony Basgallop, the horror series is executive produced, and partially directed, by M. Night Shyamalan. Servant season 1 premiered on November 29, 2019, and new episodes subsequently released every Friday through January 17, 2020.

Servant season 1 revolves around the enigmatic Leanne Grayson (Nell Tiger Free), a nanny who's hired by Philadelphia natives Sean and Dorothy Turner, portrayed by Toby Kebbell and Lauren Ambrose, respectively. Leanne is part of Sean's plan to help Dorothy cope with the tragic death of their newborn son, Jericho, as the Turner family baby is now a doll, rather than an actual human being. Surprisingly, Leanne plays along with the scheme exceptionally well, and Sean doesn't ask many questions when a real baby shows up in Jericho's crib.

In the Servant season 1 finale, "Balloon," Sean - a professional chef - cooks Lauren's placenta that he'd been keeping in a refrigerator, and makes it part of a cromquembouche dessert for Jericho's baptism party. When Leanne's mysterious Uncle George (Boris McGiver) and Aunt May (Alison Elliot) show up, Sean's plan begins to unravel, as Dorothy comes to the realization that something's not quite right. Here's what to expect for Servant season 2 on Apple TV+.

Servant Season 2 Renewal

Lauren Ambrose in Servant

Apple TV+ ordered Servant season 2 before the series launched. The new streaming service did exactly the same thing with The Morning Show, For All Mankind, Dickinson, and See, so the renewal doesn't reflect AppleTV+'s response to streaming numbers or critic reviews, but rather a plan for fleshing out a story through at least two seasons. Servant season 1 has received mostly positive reviews.

Servant Season 2 Release Date Info

Toby Kebbell in Servant

If Apple TV+ follows the template established by competitors like Netflix and Amazon Prime, Servant season 2 will release in late 2020. The production doesn't match the scope of other series, so it seems likely that new episodes will be produced and released sooner than later. Expect Servant season 2 to premiere in November 2020.

Servant Season 2 Story Details

Nell Tiger Free in Servant

Servant season 1 on Apple TV+ ends with bad news for Sean and Dorothy Turner. Uncle George and Aunt May are revealed to be Church of the Lesser Saints cult leaders who previously had a violent and fiery encounter with ATF agents years prior, all the while raising Leanne as their daughter. Dorothy, a well-known TV reporter, only discovers the truth about Leanne and company upon watching video from an old broadcast. She then realizes that baby Jericho is missing. Leanne, holding a blue balloon, reunites with Uncle George and Aunt May in the middle of a Philadelphia street, and participates in a group hug with other cult members.

In Servant season 2, the primary conflict will likely focus on grief and acceptance. Now that Dorothy has figuratively woken up, she'll have to deal with some harsh realities, and Sean will similarly have to accept why he went along with the bizarre plan to begin with. As for Leanne and her "family," their motivations will surely be revealed in Servant season 2, though it remains unclear who fathered the fake Jericho. George and May identify Leanne as their "servant," but who exactly are they serving, and why? Expect Servant season 2 to be significantly more dramatic and revelatory than the first 10 episodes.
