Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson flaunted a flashy ensemble inspired by Britney Spears for her upcoming movie Senior Year. Wilson, whose last movie role was in the 2019 musical Cats, has been busy promoting her new Netflix comedy by posting photos all over social media. Principal photography for Senior Year started on May 24th in Atlanta, and according to one of Wilson's recent posts, the team just recently wrapped filming. Wilson will serve as one of the movie's producers, working with Paramount Players, a Paramount Pictures' production label.

Set between 1997 and 2017, the film centers around a woman in her late thirties (Wilson) who wakes up from a twenty-year coma and goes back to her high school—where she was once a popular cheerleader—intending to take home the crown for prom queen. Revisiting her high-school comedy roots, Clueless star Alicia Silverstone will be joining alongside Wilson in the upcoming comedy directed by British TV director-producer Alex Hardcastle. Other cast members include Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys) and Sam Richardson.

Topping off a stream of set photos from Senior YearWilson posted a picture and a video on Instagram and TikTok showing off her wardrobe inspired by Spears' late '90s music video "Crazy." In the caption accompanying her TikTok video, the actress reveals her admiration for Spears, stating:

Can you tell that I'm the biggest Britney fan! And so in my new movie Senior Year, my character LOVES her, and we use her as inspo for our cheer squad.

Wilson's Britney-esque photos and videos aren't the only indicators that Senior Year takes its late '90s and early 2000s setting seriously. Wilson has also posted several shots that show off her cheerleading attire, one of which includes a caption that says: "I really do get to live out my BRING IT ON dreams in this movie!" Based on the captions for a lot of Wilson's photos, the cast and crew seemed to have loads of fun with each other, sharing nothing but admiration for one another.

Given the recent outcry of support surrounding Spears' current situation, Spears' impact on Millenials feels more relevant now than ever before. Furthermore, in light of her influence during the film's period, it makes more than enough sense to pay homage to the pop star. With Wilson's background in music performance and a proven ability to entertain, fans will be excited to see what's in store for the upcoming film. Senior Year will be released in 2022, with an exact premiere date yet to be announced.
