Tarek El Moussa has been a controversial figure before he met his wife and Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young. The pair began dating during the summer of 2019 after meeting on a yacht in California. They immediately hit it off and moved in with each other after a week together. More than a year after they met, Tarek proposed to Heather while on California's Catalina Island. The proposal was aired a couple of months later in Tarek's HGTV show Flipping 101 With Tarek El Moussa.
Despite their picture-perfect relationship, Tarek has made some mistakes in his past. Before regaining a relationship with Heather, he was married to Christina Haack for nine years. The two share two children, Taylor and Brayden, and they still film their hit HGTV series together, Flip or Flop. Since the exes are still in contact, there are sometimes lingering negative feelings towards each other.
Tarek's most recent controversial incident was between him and his ex-wife Christina while filming their show Flip or Flop. The real estate entrepreneur reportedly screamed at Christina after she called in him to start filming again in a degrading way. She set him off and went on a verbal tirade against her, calling Christina jealous of his new relationship with Heather and saying that he enjoys watching her fall. Christina had recently finalized her divorce from her second husband, Ant Anstead, who is now dating Renée Zellweger. After the incident hit the tabloids, Tarek reportedly felt remorseful about the whole situation. The former couple shares a long history together, and sometimes keeping himself in check when he is around her can be difficult.
