The recent season of Selling Sunset showcased the enchanting wedding of Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet. The couple has a huge age gap of 13 years, which is not very common. Now, many viewers speculate that Romain got married to Mary because she's successful and earns more money than him. So, let's do some digging and find out if there is any truth in this theory.

The handsome hunk was working as a pastry chef in L.A. when he first met his beautiful wife. Mary is a successful realtor who sells uber-expensive properties and earns millions in commissions. Whereas her husband is a struggling model, who is now just stepping into the cutthroat market of real estate. He appears in the reality show, but won't be considered as one of the main cast members, thus would make less than Mary.  Fans become more suspicious of his intentions when, at one point, he forgets his wallet while having a date with Mary at an expensive restaurant. Moreover, the difference between earnings became pretty evident when Romain proposed Mary with a moissanite ring instead of a real diamond.

It was the concern of many Selling Sunset stars as well. In season one, Chrishell asked Davina if Mary is getting a prenuptial agreement or not. So, many fans would argue that Romain is financially dependent on his super-rich wife. Though there is a disparity between their incomes, we don't think he would take the big step of marriage out of greed. We have seen the couple sharing vows, which looked very genuine. Although they have difficulties like language barriers and differences of opinion, especially about kids, the couple seems very much in love. Plus, the hot hunk is really proud of himself - he won't do anything that would hurt his pride.

Remember, when all of their wedding venues fell through, and Jason offered his place to have the wedding ceremony? Romain denied the offer because he didn't want a helping hand from Mary's ex-boyfriend. Agreed, Romain is not as rich as Mary right now, but soon he will be. He is currently working as a model and being represented by the Wilhelmina agency in New York and Los Angeles.

With the help of Mary, he has also stepped into the real estate industry and now working as a project manager. He takes care of the remodeling of houses in the Hollywood Hills. Soon enough, he would earn massive commissions while also making a paycheck through his modeling gigs and the reality show. Anyway, we're happy to see that the income doesn't seem to bother the newlyweds. Selling Sunset season 3 premieres on Netflix on Aug. 7.
