Some comments or brief remarks that are out of the ordinary are pivotal moments for fans because it shows either that characters are changing or that the fan has to reevaluate what is actually happening on the show.

Emma Hernan

"She's going down."

Emma is the new full-time member of the group. She keeps to herself and is kind to everyone, even Christine, despite their bad history. When talking to Christine who is lying to her about their ex-boyfriend, Emma chooses to move on and not make a scene at the party.

However, she is suddenly pushed to the edge by Christine's consistent lies. Fans were shocked to see Emma stand up and use these major fighting words that threaten to take Christine down.

Amanza Smith

"You are the villain. Even the Joker had a couple of friends."

Amanza Smith Interviewed on Selling Sunset

Amanza is a fan favorite character because of her charm and down-to-earth nature. She is vulnerable about her life as a single mom and she also chooses to be the bigger person when facing conflict and avoids the biggest fights on Selling Sunset at all costs.

However,  she shocked fans by choosing to be too honest about Christine to Christine herself. She calls out Christine for being the "villain" of the group, surprising fans because Amanza usually steers clear of such bold comments. However, this may be because Amanza is no longer a new agent and has grown more comfortable to say what needs to be said, even to Christine.

Brett Oppenheim

"You got 'em Tiffany's gifts? I'll remember that for my birthday."

Brett Oppenheim on Selling Sunset

Brett is usually quiet and all business, which differs from his more social brother, Jason. Fans rarely hear about Brett or his true feelings, leaving many fans seeing him as a straightforward guy.

However, during Jason's and Emma's birthday party for their dogs, Brett's dry sense of humor was revealed and left fans shocked to see this fun side of Brett. Fans could definitely see how Jason and Brett are more alike with this side of Brett not usually shown on camera.

Romain Bonnet

"If Mary pays for everything, even if we put both of our names, there is no point for me."

Romain Bonnet Confronting Davina on Selling Sunset

Romain's personality is many fans' dream because he is super supportive of Mary in terms of her professional and social life. He also has great instincts such as knowing when Mary needs a girls' night.

However, fans were shocked by his patriarchal ego. He felt uncomfortable having Mary use her money for their company despite both their names being involved. This remark seemed out of character for Romain because he did not seem like he was intimidated or offended by Mary and her earnings.

Jason Oppenheim

"Okay, guys, so I wrote a poem for Niko and a poem for Zelda."

Jason is the most involved with the agents, mentoring and teaching them about real estate. He is also the one who has the tough conversations with the agents, such as telling Davina to come back to the office or telling Christine to stop with the drama at work.

Fans were surprised to see Jason not only throw a party for his dogs with Mary but also decide to write and present a poem. It seemed out of the blue but shows his secret soft side.

Chrishell Stause

"Unless you have some kind of guru healer that's gonna sit her down and do an exorcism, I don't see how this is going to change."

Chrishell talking to the camera on Season 4 of Selling Sunset

Chrishell is regarded for her poise and grace. She stands up for herself in a timeless way that does not spark drama. But in season 4, Selling Sunset fan reactions on places like Reddit showed they were stunned to see her become more open and to the point, especially when talking about Christine.

When Vanessa suggests another resource for Christine to heal and change, Chrishell is not her positive or hopeful self. Rather she is to the point, expressing her animosity and lack of faith in Christine.

Tarek El Moussa

"You can't shit on people and expect to get anything from them."

Tarek is presented as the happy and fun party partner. He invites the agents to his yacht and even wants to grab a drink with Heather's friends. He usually seems pretty laid back and lets Heather have her spotlight.

But when Heather and Christine have an argument, Tarek breaks his usual self and starts giving helpful advice to Heather. He calms her down and emphasizes how Christine should not have emotional control over her, which differs from the party-going Tarek fans are used to seeing.

Mary Fitzgerald

"I know the person you were and that hopefully still is deep down inside, and I want her to come back."

Mary is emotional on Selling Sunset, but it is because she carries her heart on her sleeve. To avoid confrontation, she sets boundaries and chooses to cut off people without causing any drama. However, in season 4, Mary decides to confront Christine about her lies and mentions all the pain Christine has caused for her.

In fact, throughout season 4, Mary discusses her feelings about Christine. Fans were taken back by Mary admitting she wants the old Christine back, meaning there is a possibility that Mary would give their friendship another chance.

Davina Potratz

"I'm really sorry for hurting your feelings, genuinely."

Davina has a rocky relationship with the agents and even Jason and Brett. She commonly refuses to acknowledge her mistakes from her professional life, such as bad real estate listings and undercutting other agents.

However, fans were shocked to see her come back to the show not only with a new wardrobe but also an apology for Chrishell. It seemed odd for Davina to apologize because she has never been accountable for anything she has done.

Maya Vander

"She's actually really nice."

Maya Vander On Selling Sunset

Maya is the most neutral agent in the office, getting along with everyone. Mostly, she is unbiased and chooses to not cause any issues with anyone.

But when discussing Davina to Emma, Maya chooses to favor Davina rather than presenting both positive and negative opinions of Davina to Emma. Maya's favoritism was out of character for a person who generally refuses to take sides.

Vanessa Villela

"I don't think that she's mad. She only said she was hurt."

Vanessa Villela Interviewed On Selling Sunset Season 4

Vanessa is the peacemaker in the office, trying to mend the relationship between Christine and the rest of the agents. Her commitment to wanting tranquility and less drama on this Netflix reality show was refreshing

Thus, it was a major shock for fans to see Vanessa become aggressive towards Emma. Vanessa's hostility may have been because of Christine's opinion of Emma but Vanessa's anger was unexpected, as she seems like a person who wants peace.

Heather Rae El Moussa

"I hate her so much right now."

Heather Young Interviewed On Selling Sunset Season 4

Heather is usually lowkey and keeps to herself. When there is an argument or an issue at hand, she walks away unless she knows it must be discussed. It is rare for Heather to be upfront about her feelings, especially about other agents in the office.

When Heather and Chrishell were together for coffee, fans were surprised to see Heather use the word "hate" and be in tears. She puts energy into her personal life and her revealing how work is impacting her was emotional for fans.

Christine Quinn

"I do want to change my relationships with the other agents moving forward."

Christine Quinn On Her Wedding Day

Christine does not care about anyone unless it benefits her. It is uncommon for her to look in the mirror and want to change anything about herself so it was a shock for fans to hear her goal of changing and growing into a whole new person.

Though fans may see Christine changing into a new person as impossible, it is shocking for her to even admit she wants to change, even if she hasn't figured out how or what she needs to do.
