Justin Hartley splits with wife and Selling Sunset star, Chrishell Stause after just hosting a movie viewing party together. The two were seen together just a week before the divorce news came out and seemed to be getting along just fine. Now with a divorce on the horizon, fans are questioning what went wrong in their seemingly perfect relationship.
The two originally met when Chrishell played Hartley’s wife on the Young and the Restless. The once-happy couple tied the knot back in October of 2017 after dating for four years. The whole cast of his hit show came out to support the happy couple at the time. Hartley does have a 15-year-old daughter who she shares custody with his ex-wife Lindsay Hartley. The two were married from 2004 to 2012.
The This is Us actor delivered a shock to fans when he announced he had filed for divorce on November 22nd. According to Us Weekly, the actor listed their date of separation as July 8 which confused fans as the couple has been spending a lot of time together throughout their separation. The 42-year-old and the 38-year-old were caught hosting a viewing party together for Chrishell’s close friend, Melissa Claire Egan, back on November 16th - just a week before filing for the divorce. The couple shared a cute group photo that was taken at the event with their Instagram followers.
According to a source, Hartley filed the divorce in a Los Angeles court on Friday and listed the case as a dissolution without minor children. The document read that Hartley cited "irreconcilable differences" as the motive for their separation. The news, however, came as a huge shock to the couple's family and friends. A source explained, "People close to Justin and Chrishell are completely shocked by Justin filing for divorce." The insider revealed, "The couple has always been incredible with no signs of things being on the rocks. Friends are speculating this was an impulse on Justin’s side due to something that happened, and are hopeful the couple can work things out."
The news is a big surprise to fans, especially with it being so close to the holidays, which makes people close to Hartley believe that it was a rash decision on his part, meaning that something must have happened to force him to take such drastic steps. Selling Sunset fans are still very much hopeful that the two television stars can work it out.
