Season two of Netflix's Selling Sunset reaffirmed that the founder of the Oppenheim Group, Jason Oppenheim has a soft spot for his ex-girlfriend turned co-worker Mary Fitzgerald. When asked about his relationship dynamics with Mary, he agreed that it is an unusual situation, but makes an excellent point about why he shares a wonderful rapport with her.

Many viewers were surprised by the fact that Jason and Mary once dated, and even after their break up, they share a strong bond. They adopted a dog while dating and got another one after breaking up because they realized they were great at co-parenting. Well, just like us, their co-stars were shocked by these revelations. Maya Vander and Christine Quinn have often questioned their boss's preferential treatment towards his ex. Many viewers noticed that Jason would hardly say no to Mary but be extra hard on Davina or Heather Young.

During an interview with Express, Jason explained why he continues to have a good connection with his ex and her 26-year-old boyfriend. He said, "I think remaining close friends with some that you told that you loved makes more sense than somehow not liking that person. I don't understand how for months and years, you tell someone you love them, and then they're out of your lives, that doesn't make much sense to me." Well, his thought process does make sense and clears up why he has so much affection for Mary. He is not only cordial with Mary but all his three exes, which could sound strange to some people. He explains that he never got cheated or disrespected by his partners; they broke up just because they realized that they wanted different things in their lives. Check out the picture he posted recently:

So, what about other cast members who feel threatened by his undivided attention towards his ex. He says, "I don't give a s**t, quite honestly. People's opinions are not going to dictate what makes me happy." That comes across harsh, but at least he's honest, right? They might not be together, but we definitely love their on-screen chemistry. He was even spotted crying at her wedding. We assume he was thinking about how Mary was his soulmate, and he should've been there at the stage with her! Still, he would have been happy with the fact that she was professional, sold the house on her wedding day, and made a sale for the group.

Mary and Jason have a functional relationship and, honestly, seem very compatible. Remember their long-drawn hug at one of Heather's listings? They had to be interrupted because it was getting beyond awkward to watch for their colleagues (and for the viewers). We wonder what Romain has to say about that intimate moment shared between exes. Is he as chill as Jason? We don't think so!
