Selling Sunsets Jason Oppenheim is finally addressing claims that he favors Mary Fitzgerald. The Oppenheim Group’s president doesn't think he gives anyone in the office any special treatment, including his ex-girlfriend, Mary.

Almost everyone from Selling Sunset’s cast has commented on Jason Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald’s unique relationship. The two exes-turned-co-workers have remained close throughout their friendship, which has been causing some drama in the workplace, especially when it comes to who gets all the listings. Throughout the new season, it was sort of an inside joke amongst the rest of the cast that Jason was always quick to give Mary a listing. Now, it looks like some of the ladies aren’t having it anymore. In a recent interview, co-star Christine Quinn revealed that favoritism towards Mary Fitzgerald at The Oppenheim Group could drive her to leave the brokerage altogether. So, Jason Oppenheim is opening up about this supposed special treatment.

In a recent interview, the real estate mogul talked about playing favorites with Mary Fitzgerald. He told Good Housekeeping, “I don’t give her special treatment,” adding, “When it comes to business ... it’s strictly a response to their production, the amount of money that they bring into the brokerage, their level of experience and expertise, and my level of trust in them.” Jason also goes on to explain that their brokerage is a bit different, stating that “no other brokerage gives agents listings or buyers”.

Based on these comments, it's clear that Jason Oppenheim thinks his realtors' claims about favoritism in the office are totally exaggerated. While viewers have witnessed Jason giving a few of his listings to Mary, the way the show is editing may also promote certain perceptions. The show is produced by The Hills’ mastermind Adam DiVello, and he is known for his reality TV editing, which includes cutting footage in order to get the most shock value. Jason Oppenheim recently revealed that he didn’t know the show would focus so much on their personal lives. He was pitched a show that (in his mind) would revolve around California’s luxury real estate market, versus the agents’ (and his!) relationships and personal matters.

When it comes to reality TV, it looks like what really sells isn’t the sexy Los Angeles properties, but the feuds between the glam agents. Maybe Jason should keep up the facade that he favors Mary? It could make for great Selling Sunset ratings!
