Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause responded rather calmly to Twitter comments regarding her personality on the show being "annoying," saying that the mentality she built from years of auditioning may have effected her on-screen presence. Like almost all reality personalities, Chrishell has dealt with her fair share of Internet negativity since Selling Sunset was first released onto Netflix's platform back in 2019. Just five months before her relationship with her boss and co-star Jason ended, she responded to a comment saying that she couldn't "accomplish anything without a man."
Chrishell was introduced on Selling Sunset to Netflix audiences as one of the newest hires of the Oppenheim Group brokerage on March 21, 2019. Before her time as a broker, she had a career as a professional actor in Hollywood. Many may remember her from her break-out performance as Amanda Dillion in NBC's All My Children. The role, which she booked just two years after graduating from Murray State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, granted her a place in show business. After the show was canceled in 2011, Chrishell went on to star in such hit soap operas as Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless before branching into real estate.
Chrishell took to Twitter on January 8th in response to fans touting her personality on the show as annoying. While other reality stars are more prone to going on the offense when it comes to fan hate, Chrishell chose a more understanding route. She tweets that she understands how she may come across to some viewers and feels the same way. Chrishell chalked her presumably "annoying" personality traits that were portrayal don Selling Sunset to her years as a professional actress in the soap opera industry. "I think years of auditioning clicks a weird part of my brain," she wrote.
Soon after her tweet went out, there was a sea of support coming in from her fans - including a few A-list celebs. According to E Online!, Holly Hagan of MTV's Geordie Shore quoted tweet Chrishell with some words of encouragement. She complimented Chrishell, saying that her personality was "bubbly", as opposed to "annoying". YouTube beauty guru sensation Manny Mua chimed to support her as well, saying that she's, "literally the sweetest."
Chrishell's response to her haters throughout the years adds to the hundreds of examples of how toxic celebrity culture can be online. Though, her acknowledgment of her past acting experience influencing her real-time emotional responses on Selling Sunset brings something different to the conversation than just telling off her haters. Talking about the pressures of being behind the camera and how it may affect how one is portrayed on-screen is something that reality stars deal with on a daily basis as their job. While Chrishell tweets that she'll try to keep the comments in mind, she certainly has a large amount of support for the way she's been on the show so far.
