While some may be surprised that Selling The OC star Tyler Stanaland and his wife Brittany Snow are separating after two years of marriage, Tyler's recent appearance on the Selling Sunset spin-off may be a primary factor in the demise of their relationship. Tyler, a former pro-surfer who joined the Oppenheim Group office in Newport Beach in 2021, married Brittany, an actress known for starring in films such as Hairspray and Pitch Perfect. While Tyler's marriage is arguably the most recognized, other marriages that were introduced on Selling The OC include Austin Victoria and his wife Lisa, Gio Helou and his wife Tiffany, and Brandi Marshall and her husband, Sean.

Although Tyler and Brittany have kept their relationship relatively private over the years, rumors of the two separating first began to circulate several weeks ago. Selling The OC viewers noticed upon the show's premiere that Tyler and Brittany refrained from not just posting any photos together but discussing Tyler's TV debut in general. Besides Brittany raising eyebrows by being the only Oppenheim Group partner to not appear on Selling The OC, recent photos on Tyler and Brittany's respective Instagram Stories further showed that the couple was posing without their wedding rings on, leading to further speculation. On September 14, Tyler and Brittany confirmed their separation with a joint statement that, unfortunately, many people saw coming.

Although Tyler and Brittany declined to explain the end of their relationship, Tyler's interactions with fellow Oppenheim Group agents Kayla Cardona and Alex Hall may have something to do with their separation. While many of the women on Selling The OC admitted to finding Tyler attractive during a cast beach outing, Hall, who was accused of bullying fellow Selling The OC stars Alexandra Jarvis and Alexandra Rose, was seen getting close to Tyler. While cuddling with Tyler on camera, Hall gave Tyler a "nosey," which was instantly criticized for being too intimate by viewers. Shortly after the beach debacle, another realtor found herself in hot water too, when Kayla attempted to kiss Tyler, who was accused of getting off easy, while intoxicated.

Despite Tyler being on the receiving end of his co-workers' advances, Selling The OC viewers and critics alike determined that Tyler was at fault in both scenarios for not setting clear boundaries. Although Hall and Kayla were clearly wrong for getting too close to a married man on national television, it's equally clear that Tyler didn't make an effort to ensure lines weren't being crossed while filming, such as discussing Kayla's attempted kiss with everybody but Kayla. These situations, combined with Tyler making an offhanded comment that he loves surfing more than Brittany, left a sour taste in viewers' mouths that ultimately cast a bad light on Tyler and his marriage.

While it's possible Tyler and Brittany's relationship was in trouble before Netflix released Selling The OC, there's no doubt that Tyler's time on the show led to real-life consequences. Although Selling The OC season 2 hasn't been confirmed yet, there's a high probability that the Selling Sunset spin-off will eventually return with more luxurious real estate listings and conflict in tow. Now that Tyler and Brittany's relationship is over for good, viewers who watched Tyler's dramatic storyline unravel on Selling The OC will have to wait and see how Tyler's upcoming divorce will affect future episodes of the show and how the divorce will change his relationships with the other Oppenheim Group agents.
