Finding the location of various merchants is extremely important in any Souls game, including all those that appear in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. There are fewer vendors than in previous FromSoftware titles, but the important items these NPCs sell can be the key to victory over challenging bosses. Ranging from healing upgrades to valuable consumables, you'll want to find every one of these hidden characters.

Like many other Souls titles, merchants can easily be accidentally killed or never show up to certain areas depending on your actions. Beginners to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice should be careful not to mistake the world of this game as only a series of difficult battles against your enemies. A single action could greatly alter your experience, so you have to pay attention to the game's many secrets and mysteries.

There are 11 total merchants you can find across 7 major areas of the game, with each giving you the option to buy or sell items and talk to learn more lore about the world.

Anayama the Peddler

Ashina Outskirts

Black Gunpowder, Scrap Iron

The first merchant in Sekiro: SDT is Anayama the Peddler, a figure who sells some important items and basic gameplay tips for a fee. This character can be found right before the Chained Ogre mini-boss arena, next to a gate leading into the nearby fight. Search for the roof of the gate, where Anayama should be taking shelter along with their wares.

Anayama sells you the Phantom Kunai upgrade to the Shinobi Prosthetic Shuriken attachment among their wares, giving you a way to improve your ranged attacks. When you begin the game, you meet Anayama as they are trying to break into a temple close to the Hirata Estate. Do not kill him for this robbery, as doing so will prevent this merchant from appearing in the future.

Talking to Anayama in the past also reveals the location of some treasure hidden in a bamboo forest guarded by a tough shinobi enemy. This loot can be hard to obtain, as you don't have a ton of skills or equipment early in your adventure.

Another reason to find Anayama's location is to purchase a ton of Black Gunpowder and Scrap Iron, basic materials used for other purposes. While you can get plenty of these items before reaching one of the several endings to Sekiro: SDT, it can be nice to have an infinite source of these resources.

Robert's Firecrackers

Memorial Mob merchants appear frequently throughout your journey, but some are incredibly easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. The Crow's Bed Memorial Mob NPC is only accessible high above the rock ledges near the Gate Path Sculptor's Idol. Use your grapple to climb up several stone platforms near the enemy on the wall, wielding a cannon to eventually reach this character.

The Crow's Bed Memorial mob sells Robert's Firecrackers, which can upgrade your Shinobi Prosthetic. Finding this vendor ahead of time gives you a great tool for fighting the boss located before the gate to Ashina Castle. There isn't much else to gain from this vendor, but taking the time to find them first will prove useful as you start to gain more advantages in Sekiro: SDT's deadly combat.

Robert's Firecrackers, Gourd Seed

The Battlefield Memorial Mob can be unlocked after you defeat the mounted boss, Gyoubu Oniwa. Travel in the opposite direction from the main gate of Ashina Castle in Sekiro: SDT and up the stairs to your right before you run into the character Tengu. This merchant's tent is in a small alcove here, as you can see in a video by YouTube creator Eclipia depicting all merchant locations.

Much like the previous merchant, this Mob sells Robert's Firecrackers, but you can also purchase an important item tied to your Gourd in Sekiro: SDT. A Gourd Seed can be bought for 1000 Sen, which allows you to upgrade the number of healing uses you get before resting at a Sculptor's Idol. Head back to the Dilapidated Temple and talk to the character Emma to receive this crucial improvement.

8 Pot Noble Harunaga

Pot Noble Harunaga

Hirata Estate

Floating Passage Text, Mask Fragment: Right

A shriveled hand in a pot called Pot Noble Harunaga can be seen in a lake within the Hirata Estate memory, close to the Dragonspring Hirata Estate Idol. You must carefully descend the cliffs to reach the water, where this vendor can be seen in a small teal-colored pot. The only currency the Pot Noble accepts is Carp Scales, so ensure you have some ready to trade.

Due to the unique currency Harunaga asks for, the wares you can get from this merchant are very different from other vendors. The Withered Red Gourd item acts similarly to your regular healing Gourd but provides resistance to burn status build-up for a short time. Drinking from this item also protects you against additional burning effects for a brief duration.

Other interesting items from Harunaga are the Mask Fragment: Right and Floating Passage Text. The Mask is one of three special items needed to activate a special late-game feature, while the Text helps unlock a weapon skill. Choosing which of these treasures to spend your few Carp Scales in Sekiro: SDT on can be an important choice.

7 Blackhat Badger

Blackhat Badger

Ashina Outskirts

Anti-Air Deathblow Text, Iron Fortress

One character willing to sell you items named the Blackhat Badger has no ties to any side of the game's conflict, making them the perfect neutral party to interact with. This fugitive deserter can give you several items from the black market, making their wares slightly rarer than other merchants. From the Grave Sculptor's Idol, avoid the cannon enemies to find this NPC in a house with a broken roof.

This merchant resembles a rat enemy in Sekiro: SDT, but do not attack them since doing so will prevent you from ever interacting with them again if they're killed. The best items the Blackhat Badger sold are the Anti-Air Deathblow Text weapon skill and the Iron Fortress. The Fortress is a special material that will enable your Shinobi Prosthetic's umbrella tool, allowing you to glide from greater heights as you explore areas.

6 Fujioka the Info Broker

Fujioka the Info Broker

Ashina Castle

Gourd Seed, Memo Items

One of the hardest merchants to find in Sekiro: SDT is Fujioka, the Info Broker. This character can be easily missed as you explore Ashina Castle. This character is hiding from enemies to the right of the Castle in a small area near a grove of bamboo. You can start traveling toward this vendor from the Ashina Castle Idol by going onto the rooftops to the right from the top of the stairs leading into the area.

Jump down from across the rooftops when you see an L-shaped alcove to find Fujioka hiding from the samurai in the region. According to a video by YouTube creator Gamer Guru, you need to kill all the samurai enemies in the area for Fujioka to start selling you items. Once you do this, Fujioka will return to the Dilapidated Temple, letting you visit him whenever you wish.

Having a merchant back at your home base is incredibly useful, even if most of Fujioka's wares are tied to memo items due to their role as an "info broker." One of the best things Fujioka sells is another Gourd Seed in Sekiro: SDT for around 2000 Sen, giving you more healing for the bosses ahead.

5 Dungeon Memorial Mob

Dungeon Memorial Mob

Ashina Castle

Prayer Bead, Mask Fragment: Dragon

Contrasting Fujioka, the Dungeon Memorial Mob merchant is quite easy to find right before the entrance to the Abandoned Dungeon. Go across the bridge from the Ashina Castle Idol and past another bridge with two soldiers you can eavesdrop on to reach the Dungeon past an enemy carrying a bell surrounded by wolves. A nearby Sculptor's Idol will give you a place to rest next to the vendor.

This merchant is the only one of the vendors in Sekiro: SDT that offers a Prayer Bead item for 1400 Sen, giving you a way to increase your health before an important fight. Another item you can get is the Mask Fragment: Dragon, the second piece of the set mentioned with the Pot Noble earlier. This item costs 5000 Sen, which can be pretty expensive and something you may have to farm money to obtain.

Five-Color Rice

Located near the travel point close by the Shugendo Idol, the Shugendo Memorial Mob is the only merchant around Senpou Temple you can find. Travel down below the mountain scaffold bridges in the Mt. Kongo region to discover this character near the ledges of the mountain cliffs. Most of this vendor's wares are items you will have already seen before, except for strange glowing rocks called Five-Color Rice.

Five-Color Rice functions like Prism Stone from other Souls games, giving you an item to gauge drop distances from areas covered in darkness. Your supply of Rice replenishes when you rest or travel through an Idol.

3 Toxic Memorial Mob

Toxic Memorial Mob

Sunken Valley

Antidote Powder, Green Mossy Gourd

The Toxic Memorial Mob merchant resides deep within the Sunken Valley inside the poisonous marsh that could slowly kill you over time. From the Riven Cave Idol, exit through the nearby passage and descend into the swamps carefully along the cliffs and statues. Alternatively, you could jump down and quickly grapple a branch to avoid the toxins as you drop into this dangerous region.

The Mob vendor sits on an island, which is thankfully raised well above the poisonous marshland surrounding the NPC. Antidote Powder and the Green Mossy Gourd can be bought from this merchant, which helps you prevent poison build-up while traveling through this area in Sekiro: SDT.

Carp Scales, Adamantine Scraps (x2), Mottled Purple Gourd

The last of its kind, the Exiled Memorial Mob, is a fairly easy merchant to reach near the Mibu Village Idol. Follow a stream through the village until you see a yellow light in the mist attached to this vendor. Be cautious, though, as a powerful enemy toward the end of the stream could catch you off guard if you travel too far off the path leading to this character.

This NPC sells valuable Carp Scales, as well as two Adamantine Scraps you can use to craft advanced upgrades for your Shinobi Prosthetic. The Mottled Purple Gourd can also be bought to prevent the build-up of the terror status effect. This healing item is very useful for taking on the optional Headless mini-bosses scattered throughout Sekiro: SDT without spending other consumable items.

Final Dancing Dragon Mask Piece

When you make it to the last area of Sekiro: SDT, you'll have an opportunity to find Pot Noble Koremori, the last merchant in the game. Much like the previous Pot Noble, this NPC accepts scales for their wares, which includes the final piece of the Dancing Dragon Mask. As you can see in a video by YouTube creator PlayStation Planet, you can find this character to complete the storyline of the Pot Nobles as well.

Travel from the Palace Grounds Idol until you reach the front door of the palace, then push your way past the nobles to discover a massive waterfall. A hidden grapple point on this landmark will lead into a small cave tunnel filled with lizards that ends near a pagoda building. Koremori is sitting on the top of this structure's roof, resting near a tree and another Idol travel point.

It costs 12 Carp Scales to buy the final Mask Fragment, but many other items from Koremori are also great. Taking a leap of faith at the waterfall can be tricky, but those who find every merchant location in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will find themselves rewarded with a wide variety of wares to make their journey easier.
