Among the four main friends in Seinfeld, Jerry and Elaine might have the strongest bond. The two were a romantic item years ago but when that relationship fizzled out, they somehow managed to remain friends. Of course, just because they are friends doesn't mean they are always good to each other.

One of the things that sets Seinfeld apart from other sitcoms was the show's willingness to portray its main characters as pretty awful people. Even though they like hanging out together, Jerry and Elaine are quick to throw each other under the bus for their own selfish gains. Here are the worst things Jerry did to Elaine and the worst things Elaine did to Jerry.

Jerry: Staying With His Parents

When Jerry invites Elaine to join him on a trip to Florida, she obviously accepts. However, her vacation dreams of scuba diving and tanning on the beach are dashed when they decide to stay at Jerry's parents' condo.

Sure, it's still nice to get away on vacation, but Elaine finds herself counting the days until they can leave. From the uncomfortable bed that leaves her back in agony to the unbearable heat of the condo, the vacation is a pure nightmare and Jerry is no help to her suffering, even trying to ditch her and go home.

Elaine: The Shove

Elaine can be a very passionate person. Some might also say that she has a bit of an anger issue, which she can unleash on her friends if they happen to cross her. But her violent outbursts are not only relegated to the times she is mad, as Jerry has discovered on multiple occasions.

When given some shocking news, Elaine is often known to yell "Get out!" and shove the person. This might seem like a playful thing, but this woman does not hold back. Jerry seems to get it the worst and sometimes those shoves look like they really hurt.

Jerry: Reading Her Murphy Brown Script

It takes a lot of trust to give another friend your house keys and in the Seinfeld group, the exchanging of keys has been quite a dramatic experience. After Kramer abuses his key privileges, Jerry gives his to Elaine. But after getting locked out of his apartment, he and George sneak into Elaine's to get his keys.

While inside the apartment, Jerry and George discover a secret that Elaine has been hiding from them — she wrote a script for a Murphy Brown episode. As the two men laugh over her creative pursuits, Elaine returns home and is appropriately enraged by this breach of trust.

Elaine: The Tape Recording

All good friends are known to play the occasional prank on each other. But sometimes those pranks can go too far, as Elaine found out. While Jerry is performing on stage, he leaves a recorder in the club so he can listen back over his show. Of course, Elaine takes the opportunity to record an extremely sexual message for Jerry on the recorder to mess with him.

Not only is recording over his comedy set a bit mean, but the message proceeds to drive Jerry and the others wild. Jerry even goes to extremes to hunt down the women that recording the message while Elaine just lets it all play out.

Jerry: Taking First Class

Jerry and Elaine are such good friends they don't even mind taking trips together, although Elaine might have second thoughts about it after this fiasco. When checking into their flight, they learn that one of them has been bumped up to first class. Jerry immediately claims to upgrade.

In Jerry's reasoning, Elaine has never flown first class while Jerry has, therefore it would be harder for him to fly coach. As a result, Jerry is pampered in a comfortable and luxurious flight, while Elaine deals sitting next to annoying people, missing the meal, and smelly bathrooms.

Elaine: Replacing Him

Even though Elaine and Jerry are very good friends, apparently that friendship can be replaced. After Elaine breaks up with a guy she has been dating, they try remaining friends, just like Jerry and Elaine. And Elaine soon finds he and his friends are the exact opposite of Jerry and the others.

Elaine decides that this group of nice, caring and supportive friends is more enjoyable to be around. She doesn't even seem to feel bad about choosing the new guy over her old friends, icily dismissing Jerry.

Jerry: Taking Back His Proposal

Jerry is the kind of person who keeps his emotions bottled up, so when he finally does let them out, the change is quite extreme. Jerry embraces his sensitive side and begins sharing his love for his friends, which makes them very uncomfortable. He even goes so far as to ask Elaine to marry him.

However, after listening to George open up his own emotions, Jerry is scared back to his old self. So, when Elaine comes to accept his marriage proposal, he is no longer interested. He turns her down in a pretty cold and matter-of-fact way that must have been pretty uncomfortable for her.

Elaine: Ditching Him With Her Father

While most of the parents of the main characters we meet on Seinfeld are a bit kooky, Elaine's father is downright scary. He is a renowned author and a very serious man who even Elaine is uncomfortable being around. So when she has to meet up with her old man, she asks Jerry and George to join her.

Of course, when George and Jerry arrive to meet the intimidating man, Elaine is nowhere to be found. The result is an excruciatingly uncomfortable evening in which Jerry and George are forced to make small talk with this angry old man while waiting for Elaine to show up.

Jerry: Almost Killing Her Boss

Elaine has had some very interesting bosses over the series. One of the most unusual was Mr. Pitt, the demanding and picky businessman whom she works for as an assistant. Though Elaine doesn't much care for the work, Mr. Pitt takes a liking to her and even includes her in his will.

Sadly, a chance meeting between Jerry and Mr. Pitt ends all that. While at the pharmacy, Pitt mistakes Jerry for a pharmacist and Jerry recommends some cold medicine which ends up reacting badly with his heart medication. Not only does Jerry nearly kill him, but Pitt becomes convinced Elaine was behind the whole thing and fires her.

Elaine: The Faking

It's admirable that Jerry and Elaine have been able to remain such close friends without their romantic past affecting the friendship. Of course, sometimes those memories come creeping up again and can create a pretty awkward situation.

When the group is discussing women "faking it" during sex, they question Elaine if she has ever done it. After pressing her some more, she admits that she faked with Jerry. The insulting admission sends their friendship into a downward spiral with Jerry unable to get past the blow to his ego.
