Sega is considering more retro consoles, one of which would be the Dreamcast Mini. Retro consoles are essentially emulation machines that are designed to look like older systems. Of course, they're also loaded with games from the recreated system's era, making them a true nostalgic trip for fans.

Nintendo started a retro console boom at the end of 2016, with the release of the NES Classic Edition, which sold millions of units around the world. This was followed by the SNES Classic Edition in 2017. The success of Nintendo's retro systems led to other companies releasing similar consoles, including the Atari Flashback, the NEOGEO Mini, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini, the Capcom Arcade Stick, and the PlayStation Classic.

Sega entered the retro console market last year with the Genesis Mini. It seems that the company has plans for more retro consoles in the future. Sega producer Yosuke Okunari was recently interviewed by Famitsu. According to a translation of the interview by Nintendo LifeOkunari mentioned that discussions regarding future retro consoles were happening at Sega, including ones based on the SG1000 and the Dreamcast. Okunari also stressed that the next Mini console likely won't be released for another two years.

When it comes to releasing older games on modern systems, Sega almost always sticks to the Genesis. The Sega Classics collection on PS4 and Xbox One are modern examples of this. Fans have been asking for a Sega Saturn collection for years, but Sega never shows any interest in the system. The Dreamcast is another popular request for a collection from fans, as it had an incredible line-up of games. The only major games from the era that has been shown love in recent years are Shenmue and Shenmue II, as they received an HD collection in the run-up to the release of Shenmue III.

The Dreamcast Mini will almost certainly contain all of the best games published by Sega for the system, including ChuChu Rocket!, the two Crazy Taxi games, Dynamite Cop, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, Fighting Vipers 2, Jet Grind Radio, the two Shenmue games, Skies of Arcadia, the two Sonic Adventure games, the two Space Channel 5 games, and Virtua Fighter 3. Those titles alone would make for an incredible line-up of games for the Dreamcast. If Sega could get the original Soul Calibur, the two Power Stone games, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Ikaruga, Dead or Alive 2, and Grandia II, then it would have the best retro console on the market on its hands. The Dreamcast is full of games that have yet to be ported to modern systems, making the Dreamcast Mini more valuable than most other retro consoles on the market.
