The polygamist families typically featured on Seeking Sister Wife aren't known for having the most harmonious relationships, but Sophie and Tami Winder have broken away from the reality show's norm. The Winder family joined Seeking Sister Wife season 2 in January 2019. Right from their introduction, it was apparent that Colton Winder and his two wives were different from the other cast members. On Seeking Sister Wife season 1, for instance, April Briney fought with her sister wives so much that she ultimately left her plural family. The Snowden family, which was featured on Seeking Sister Wife season 2, also had family dynamics that have been called abusive by Dimitri Snowden's former wife Christeline Petersen. This chaotic context highlights just how special Sophie and Tami's bond is.
In and out of filming Seeking Sister Wife, Tami and new mom Sophie Winder have demonstrated that instead of building up resentment between them, they really value each other. While Dannielle Merrifield was heartbroken over her husband spending a night with his new wife Roberta behind her back, Tami and Sophie have an open and honest relationship as teammates. In the trailer for Seeking Sister Wife season 3 (included below), a very pregnant Sophie sat with Tami and thanked her for her support. Sophie shared, "I appreciate you experiencing this pregnancy with me." Even though Tami confessed that she wished she could be pregnant like her sister wife, she continued to be the friend that Sophie needed before and after Sophie gave birth. In a post celebrating Sophie's birthday, Tami also explained that she is grateful for having a sister wife. Their mutual respect makes the Winder family beloved by fans.
Tami explained, "[Sophie's] a wonderful mother to both our children, she works so hard to make all our dreams and goals happen. She's a great friend and spouse to both Colton and I. I'm so blessed by having you as a sisterwife." Whereas other sister wives see each other as obstacles between them and their husbands, Tami sees Sophie as a loving extension of her marriage. On Tami's birthday, Sophie wrote a heartfelt Facebook post that conveyed the respect and love she has for her sister wife: "I am so grateful and blessed to have you as my sister wife... I love the relationship we have built with each other and with our children. I love you."
