New Avengers: Infinity War fan art gives us a closer look at what Team Cap could look like as they gear up for the big battle brought about by the official arrival of the Mad Titan Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, we expect that the three are operating underground (at least when the film picks up) as we know that Steve is still regarded as a vigilante by the time Spider-Man: Homecoming rolled out. And it makes sense that his two right-hand people are hanging out with him especially after Natasha double-crossed Tony.
The Avengers is nothing but a name when Infinity War debuts, with the superheroes going their separate ways after Cap and Tony's fall out in Civil War. But they must all come back together and put a united front despite their differences if they want to foil Thanos' universe-altering plans as he continues his hunt for the Infinity Stones. Dubbed the culmination of everything that has transpired in the MCU in the last 10 year, the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed movie is expected to have hints of a heist film as our heroes race to collect the mystical gems.
Thanks to fan-artist artoftimetravel on Instagram , the art features Cap, Widow, and Falcon all suited up and ready for battle. Many have noticed at Steve's suit in particular is on track with the nomad character arc that Marvel seems to be going with him, and is clearly a little more worn and grungy than we've seen in the past. That, however, does not seem to be the case, as we know that he has gone a little detour to Wakanda with Bucky deciding to reenter cryostasis where he was sporting civilian clothes. It's difficult to imagine that his uniform won't even go through at least a round of cleaning especially when he really doesn't have any reason to regularly wear it since giving up his superhero mantle.
The artwork is heavily inspired by the Infinity War trailer leaked images where the three are also featured. In fact, comparing those snaps with this latest one, it appears that the Cap, Natasha, and Sam are sporting the same garb, complete with the change of hair color for Widow and full-facial hair for the super soldier. In the screengrabs, we also see the Falcon going up against Proxima Midnight, one of the Thanos' henchmen collectively known as the Black Order.
We know these aesthetic changes thanks to the release of the D-23/Comic-Con exclusive sizzle-reel back in July, but it might not be too long before everyone else gets to finally see bearded Cap and white blonde Widow in action with the official trailer supposedly on its way. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige previously confirmed that it will drop before the year ends and the latest word on it is that it will be released early next month. If not, many theorize that it will be attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi which is also under the Disney banner.
