A new Secret Invasion set video shows Ben Mendelsohn's Marvel Cinematic Universe return as Skrull leader and ally Talos for the series. Mendelsohn made his MCU debut in Captain Marvel, in which he was believed to be a terrorist and the film's main antagonist until the reveal that the Skrulls are simply looking for a new home after being nearly wiped out by the Kree. He would later return in Spider-Man: Far From Home in which it was revealed he was posing as Nick Fury on Earth while the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. is enjoying a vacation in space.

Secret Invasion is based on Brian Michael Bendis' iconic storyline of the same name in which it is revealed that the alien shapeshifters the Skrulls have been working on a long-term invasion of Earth by secretly replacing many heroes with impostors. The series will see the returns of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mendelsohn as Talos and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, as well as the MCU introductions of Kingsley Ben-Adir as the show's unnamed lead villain, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald and Carmen Ejogo. Production on Secret Invasion got underway back in September and as it kicks off in Leeds, fans are getting a glimpse at exciting returns for the series.

The Secret Invasion set video marks the first glimpse at Mendelsohn's MCU return since last appearing in the Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene in which he was revealed to be impersonating Fury. The video sees Mendelsohn in what appears to be a non-production outfit as he makes his way to the set of the shoot, likely not in the midst of shooting a scene. The video does raise a curious point of whether Mendelsohn will be seen in human form in the series or if he will only be in his Skrulls makeup for all six episodes.

With Jackson returning as Nick Fury for Secret Invasion, it seems likely that Talos will no longer need to act as him on Earth, making it possible for Mendelsohn to need to adopt a human persona again to properly blend in with Fury as they investigate the titular event. Given the show's impending release, the recent burst of filming seems likely to be the title nearing its conclusion. The wait for Mendelsohn's MCU return won't be long as Secret Invasion is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in late 2022.
