Samuel L. Jackson is stunned at just how hyped MCU fans are for Secret Invasion, which is due to release this year on Disney+. Set up in the shocking Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene, Secret Invasion will see Jackson's Nick Fury team up with Ben Mendelsohn's Talos the Skrull, who debuted in the 2019 movie, Captain Marvel. This time, the duo will try to navigate the precarious situation that Earth is in as the shapeshifting aliens slowly take over the planet. Marvel has assembled a brilliant ensemble cast for the show with MCU newcomers Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, and Emilia Clarke all set to star.

Fury and Talos will be joined by some familiar allies as they deal with the situation on Secret Invasion. Colbie Smulders, Don Cheadle, and Martin Freeman will all reprise their roles as Maria Hill, James "Rhodey" Rhodes, and Everett Ross. Meanwhile, Dermot Mulroney is rumored to play President Ritson. For now, Marvel Studios has yet to announce an official release date for the Disney+ show, but MCU fans are already very hyped about Secret Invasion so much so that even Jackson is stunned as proven by his new Instagram update. As seen in the image, it lands on the second spot on "IMDB MOST ANTICIPATED NEW SERIES OF 2023." Check out the actor's post below:

Why Secret Invasion Is One of The Most Anticipated Series Of 2023

Marvels Secret Invasion Trailer Emilia Clarke

As Black Panther 2 wraps up Phase 4, MCU is about to kick off Phase 5 with Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels, which will also feature Jackson's Fury. The bulk of Marvel Studios' 2023 slate will be on Disney+, however, with a total of six shows in the line-up, including Secret Invasion. Between that and the string of other series set to roll out from other franchises and streaming platforms, it's safe to say that there will be no scarcity of content on the small screen. This makes fans' anticipation of Secret Invasion so much more impressive.

Secret Invasion's storytelling nature also offers something different as it takes a more serious approach to on-the-ground espionage akin to the acclaimed Captain America: Winter Soldier. The MCU is frequently criticized for leaning too much into comedy in the middle of its world-ending stakes, and while that works for certain projects such as Ant-Man and Thor: Ragnarok, many are craving something fresh from the studio.

Secret Invasion is expected to roll out sometime in the first half of 2023. After the first trailer for Secret Invasion debuted last year, a new look at the series is expected ahead of the show's premiere. This seems primed to happen after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania so Marvel can avoid promoting both projects at once. Mendelsohn and Clarke briefly appeared in the recently-released Disney+ 2023 promo clip, but that's been in it lately.
