Agents of SHIELD alum Chloe Bennet has addressed rumors that she'll appear in Secret Invasion, saying she is not involved in the show. The actress played Daisy Johnson/Quake in Marvel TV's inaugural project opposite Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson. Now that the show is finished, however, many fans are hoping that Bennet will appear in other MCU projects, including the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, featuring Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos.

Announced during Disney's Investor Day in 2020, Secret Invasion is among the previously unconfirmed projects in the pipeline for Marvel Studios. The show will see Fury re-teaming with Mendelsohn's Talos the Skrull, who debuted in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's Captain Marvel. Since then, the show's cast has expanded. Joining the project in undisclosed roles are Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, and Emilia Clarke. Plot specifics are still scant at the moment, but it is expected to take narrative inspiration from the Secret Wars comic book storyline. Meanwhile, production on the six-episode show is yet to begin.

Now, Bennet has addressed rumors of her potential appearance in Secret Invasion in a recent Instagram story, saying she is "in no way attached" to the show. The lack of official information about the show paved the way for several theories about the project, including Bennet's supposedly role as Daisy Johnson. According to Bennet, the rumors became so pervasive that the actress had been regularly asked about the matter, receiving "hundreds of messages" every day and even being approached by fans in person. While Bennet says she doesn't typically comment on these things, she ultimately decided it was best to formally state that she was "not at all, even a little bit" involved in Secret Invasion. In her post, Bennet even admitted she wasn't entirely sure what the show is. Read her comments below:

"I have avoided saying anything like this in general, on social media or whatever, because I thought maybe it would blow over, but it has not. I am in no way attached or involved, even at all or a little bit, in the Secret Invasion Marvel thing. I honestly don't even know really what that is ... I am only coming on here to say this because it has gotten to the point that every day I'm getting hundreds of messages about this ... I'm now getting like approached in person. Today it was in the tampon aisle at Target ... So I figured I would just clear the air."

Agents of SHIELD Season 7 Chloe Bennet Daisy Johnson Quake

As a fan-favorite character, it's clear that many people want to see Bennet back as Daisy in the MCU. However, it's worth noting that while the character was introduced with the idea that she exists in the same universe as the Marvel Studios movies, the relationship between Marvel's film and TV projects didn't exactly pan out. Over the years, the films have distanced themselves from Marvel TV projects, including Agents of SHIELD, with barely any reference to what goes on in that pocket of the overall franchise. Rumors of Bennet's involvement in Secret Invasion became particularly prevalent after the actress dropped out of The CW's live-action Powerpuff Girls, which fans took to mean she would be free to partake in the upcoming Disney+ show.

Right now, there's still an argument among fans about whether Marvel TV projects like Agents of SHIELD are canon or not. There are contradicting comments from everyone involved and this heated debate is ongoing, since Marvel Studios hasn't made an official comment on the matter. For what it's worth to Bennet, her potential appearance in Secret Invasion isn't the only rumor involving small screen Marvel actors supposedly joining the MCU. Daredevil's Charlie Cox is now a top fan pick for a surprise cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as other future MCU movies. While these constant rumors may be frustrating for actors to deal with, at the very least they can take this enthusiastic fan speculation as a sign of genuine love for the characters they portray.
