It is immensely difficult to accept that Shameless is officially ending its stellar run. Season 11 may be the final season for this show, but it still has been going quite strong. Each season still provides a lot of entertainment, so it is saddening to see its conclusion on the horizon.

However, there is still excitement to be had, as there is hope that it will end with quite the bang. For this to occur, it not only needs to provide solid stories but also returns of former characters. There are some that would absolutely make viewers ecstatic, while others that would be disappointing. Let's take a deeper look into this.

We Want Back: Fiona

Fiona Gallagher from Shameless U.S. as she walks away from her home

This is the most obvious choice, but Fiona absolutely should make a return of some kind. She was the heart of Shameless throughout its first nine seasons. She was far from perfect, but her selflessness and storylines carried the show in its prime.

It does not need to be for the whole season, but even just one more scene with Fiona would suffice. It would be amazing to see her catch up with the family, especially with Lip's new baby here.

We're Glad They're Gone: Karen

Karen looking at Lip in Shameless

This is a bit of an odd one. Karen definitely was an important character in the first few seasons. She was essential for Lip's character growth, even if she was immensely toxic and emotionally abusive.

Yet, even with her always being an entertaining part of the show, it's good she is gone because of her depressing end. No matter how destructive she was to Lip, she absolutely did not deserve the harm she was dealt with by Mandy. Her coming back would be a constant reminder of the tragedy she faced, which would be sad for viewers.

We Want Back: Jimmy

It is hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia when it comes to the original characters of this show. Thus, one final return of Jimmy would be pretty awesome to see.

For this to happen though, Fiona would have to be there. Thus, it absolutely is a long shot, but wishful thinking is allowed. He is the love interest of Fiona that will forever have the largest impact, even if he was not the best partner at the end of the day.

We're Glad They're Gone: Sammi

Sammi and Frank on Shameless

Sammi is a character that should never return to the show. To be entirely blunt, she never seemed to be a fit for it. Of course, this makes sense, as she was Frank's child from another woman.

However, her inability to really mesh with the rest of the family made her expendable. Also, with the way her character left, a reunion is likely out of the cards. Attempted murder does not normally lead to a short prison sentence. There is no way the Gallaghers would accept her because of how toxic she was.

We Want Back: Mikey

Mikey definitely was not a groundbreaking character. Yet, one has to admire the very close friendship he formed with Frank in Season 10. This was a bit surprising to see, as they were rivals in the season prior.

Yet, one could argue that Mikey was one of the best parts of last season. He may not provide the deepest of stories, but purely from a comic relief standpoint, he is outstanding. One last hangout between Mikey and Frank is a necessity.

We're Glad They're Gone: Trevor

If one were to have put Trevor in a different situation, he likely wouldn't be on this list. Yet, having him attempt to replace Mickey as Ian's partner was simply impossible as many were devoted to the now-married couple. Thus, fans were never able to grow much of an attachment to him.

Therefore, it is hard to picture a scenario where bringing back Trevor would be a good idea. His desire to help the unfortunate was truly admirable, but that just isn't enough to warrant a return for him.

We Want Back: Sheila

Sheila talks to Debbie in Shameless

Yes, Sheila had a marvelous sendoff. She completely overcame her agoraphobia and moved to Arizona to take care of Karen, which completed her character development. However, she is still among the favorites for Shameless fans.

How could she not be? Joan Cusack was nothing short of stellar with this role. Although flawed at times, this was a character with a heart of gold, which is quite the rarity with Shameless. Even if it is a small cameo, seeing Sheila one last time would be fantastic.

We're Glad They're Gone: Sean

Sean Pierce smiling faintly

Sean definitely should not return. He destroyed Fiona by being dishonest about his sobriety, as exposed by Frank at the actual ceremony. This naturally leads to the cancellation of their wedding, which was truly a necessity.

However, that was not the last of Sean, as he would return and ultimately inflict more pain on Fiona, even if it was not intentionally. He became sober and remarried, so realistically, there is no need for him to return at this juncture.

We Want Back: Svetlana

Shameless: Svetlana at the bar talking to a client

Svetlana was a character that was hard to formulate a consistent opinion about. She certainly was manipulative and dishonest, but she also provided a lot of hilarious moments. However, she broke V's heart with her dishonesty when stealing her and Kev's bar.

Nevertheless, it would be kind of cool to see her come back this upcoming season. It seems rather unlikely, but she is a character that could cause more havoc under the correct circumstances. Perhaps she could seek revenge on Kev and V.

We're Glad They're Gone: Ford

Ford may honestly be the most boring character to ever join this cast. All of his hobbies were immensely boring, and due to this, Fiona's attraction to him never seemed justifiable. He seemed more like a plot filler than an actual character.

It became even worse when the viewers discovered that he was married, which naturally would lead to Fiona's biggest breakdown in the series. With this being stated, there is no way that a Ford return would make fans happy. Good riddance, Ford.
