HBO Max has released the full-length Search Party season 4 trailer teasing the new episodes of the dark comedy. The show, which aired its first two season on TBS before moving to the streamer, follows Dory (Alia Shawkat), a listless millennial who becomes obsessed with a missing college classmate. The first three seasons saw Dory drag her friends through mayhem and intrigue, culminating in a flashy murder trial.

When we last left Dory, she had been acquitted for murder, but was promptly abducted by her mysterious stalker Chip (played by comedian Cole Escola). In the Search Party season 4 trailer, Dory’s friends Drew (John Reynolds), Elliott (John Early) and Portia (Meredith Hagner) launch a new search party as Dory is tormented by her kidnapper.

As the gang vies for social media attention with "the Duchess of Windsor’s nipple slip," Dory can be seen spending time with her volatile stalker, who even shaved her head for his "Dory doll." The trailer also teases a new character played by Susan Sarandon (who kicks Dory down a flight of stairs) and more from season 1’s missing girl Chantal (Clare McNulty), who as usual seems to be going through her own crisis. "Oh my God, why is everyone obsessed with going missing?" Elliot complains at one point.

Search Party was created by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, and Michael Showalter (Wet Hot American Summer). Season 4, which was filmed pre-pandemic, will run 10 episodes and be released in batches, with three episodes on January 14, three on January 21, and the final four on January 28, per the announcement accompanying the trailer.
