Search Party will be returning soon for its final season. Naturally, it's only right to take a look back at the show with its dark yet comical cast of characters. With compelling mysteries that take twists and turns each subsequent season, Search Party has been taking viewers on a wild ride that is leading to some sort of explosively insane conclusion.

Overall, this show is a great watch for fans of murder mysteries. With comedic yet brilliantly written characters that add to its entertainment value. Search Party and its core crew have seen a missing person's case, a criminal cover-up, a sensational trial, and Dory being kidnapped by an obsessed fan. It's no surprise that the man characters of the series can be pretty smart for the most part.

Elliott Goss

Eli is dramatic and loves to play mind games, even if he does it rather poorly. He doesn't like serious moments and often tries to make them either funny or awkward, just like at Dory's funeral.

Elliott openly admits that he is self-absorbed and doesn't care that other people see that quality in him because he can't change who he is. Although he doesn't have the highest IQ, his perspective shows that he's entirely okay with who he is and how he deals trying to live after covering up a murder.

Gail

Gail Search Party behind the glass at the jail

Gail is Dory's boss who constantly compliments Dory for her reliability, but doesn't know her all too well. Search Party is a powerful friendship thriller and as it progress, Gail comes across as a loveable, yet an image-driven woman.

There's not much to say about Gail other than she's well-meaning, but the fact that she feels Dory is brave and comes to visit her because of her popularity shows that she can be somewhat shallow. She definitely isn't the smartest character, but she is generally kind.

Drew Gardner

Drew Gardner is Dory's boyfriend who obviously cares about her. However, he has trouble figuring out how to read her emotions and please her. He is a sweet guy, but he can be pretty clueless and innocent at times. Even when he helps with murder, he doesn't know how to deal with the toll it takes on him.

Even though this is all true, Drew does try to help out when he can. He's a bit of a lost puppy that needs guidance and good influences around him. While Drew is sensitive to his own feelings, he doesn't have the capability to support others or stand up for himself when he should.

Portia Davenport

Portia Davenport talking on the phone in Search Party

Portia appears to be a vapid blonde actress on the surface. In reality, she's actually hypersensitive and tries to be taken seriously especially in her work as an actress. At the end of season 4, she spoke at Dory's funeral. While it was mostly about herself, it also showed how self-aware she was that she didn't know her friend.

This was a huge step for Portia, who is rarely humbled. This shows that she does care and values people more than she lets on. Portia strives to be more intelligent and even though she sometimes fails, the fact that she tries makes her smart in her own right.

Chantal Witherbottom

Chantal Witherbottom in search party sitting on a couch

Chantal Witherbottom is a bit of an enigma. Though she has a darker and more conniving side to her, she's a bit of a goof and loves to play around with people. She's smart, but she's not as aware as other people such as Dory or Cassidy.

All this being said, her disappearance, which wasn't really a disappearance at all, led to the murder of an innocent man, which would have been avoided if she were just more communicative. Chantal has a lot of levity and when she's found alive, her presence is a plot twist in and of itself.

Julian

Julian is Dory's ex-boyfriend and while he can lack sympathy at times, he has his wits about him. As a journalist, he seeks to find out the truth and tries to be reasonable when thinking about illogical situations.

He isn't as driven as Dory to find out the truth by whatever means necessary. Instead, he prefers to ignore things such as her gut feeling that Chantal Witherbottom was still alive. Though he has enough intelligence to gaslight Dory into thinking she needs therapy, he's no mastermind.

Tunnel Quinn

Jeff Goldblum in Search Party playing Tunnel Quinn

While not much is known about Tunnel Quinn as of yet, the series newcomer certainly comes across as extremely savvy with technology, loaded with money, and great at turning an idea into a product. This character, played by Jeff Goldblum in season 5, will bring even more quirkiness to the dark dramedy.

With the help of Dory's wisdom, he plans to sell enlightenment and is confident in his ability to do so. Quinn is difficult to figure out, but it's clear he has a mind for business. This will, hopefully, make Dory a success with his assets and connections.

Cassidy Diamond

Search Party Cassidy Diamond coming out of the car in season 3 of Search Party

Cassidy is a go-getter. Though she may have an obnoxious vocal fry and act informally for a lawyer, she knows what she wants and goes for it like a new age Elle Woods (which is Reese Witherspoon's best role ever). She has style and knows how to distract a room while getting them to form an opinion on her client.

Underestimating Cassidy is an easy mistake, especially since she treats her client, Dory, more like a celebrity than a defendant in a murder trial. With all this in mind, Cassidy is a little ditsy at times. However, she knows how to read a court room and how to play the media perfectly.

Chip Wreck

chip wreck talks to Dory Sief as she's chained in a chair on Search Party

Chip Wreck is a highly unstable man who traps Dory and who full-heartedly believes that she is his best friend. Though he struggles to understand these boundaries, he is still intelligent enough to manipulate Dory so much that she develops Stockholm Syndrome.

Chip is an unusual and volatile person. Even so, he was able to build an exact replica of Dory's apartment and dolls that imitated her real-life friends. He's quite disturbed, no doubt. However, he is also smart enough to keep someone captured for an extended period of time. After all, he was able to plan a kidnapping and accomplish it immaculately.

Dory Sief

The cast of Search Party looks up at something

Dory is one of the smartest characters in Search Party because she's extremely observant and hyperaware of her surroundings. Even though she does change significantly after being kidnapped, she still has strong enough mental faculties to draw people in with her charisma. After all, she sells enlightenment in the upcoming season which will be coming to HBO Max in 2022.

Dory's ability to notice people even when they don't notice her shows that she pays attention. More importantly, she has an empathetic spirit. In this way, her emotional intelligence also aids her as she tries to find Chantal's murderer or even as she attempts to undo the brainwashing she experienced in season 4.
