Sean Spicer has been eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. While he made it further than most might have imagined, he is still very pleased with how well he did.

Spicer, who served as the White House press secretary until his resignation in July of 2017, was a controversial choice for casting in the newest season of Dancing with the Stars. Even with the public demand for him to be taken off the show, he stayed put with the network making no excuse - even getting support from unlikely places like President Trump and co-star Karamo Brown. However, the controversy spread to Brown, and he eventually had to delete his Twitter because of the hate posts he received. Even through all of the trials and tribulations, Spicer has committed to competing with his dance partner, even gushing after President Trump tweeted out at him.

After the dust had settled, fans were left with another contestant gone, and this week it was  Spicer’s turn to face the music. After eight weeks of dancing - which led to low scores, upset viewers, and frustrated judges - the former voice of the President has been eliminated. The former Press Secretary made it to the top 6, which was mostly due to a very determined home audience. But on Monday night’s episode, which had a boy band/girl band theme, his dancing let him down once more.

Sean Spicer Sailor Routine Dancing with the Stars

Along with his dance partner, Jenna Johnson, Spicer was voted into the bottom two, along with country singer Lauren Alaina. Thankfully, the new rules allowed the three judges to choose which dance couple would see another week, and it was not Spicer. All three judges acknowledged that it is always hard to send a dancer packing, but were in agreement that it was time for Spicer to Cha Cha out of the studio. A consolation prize for the failed dancer may have been when President Trump, who seemed to be Spicer’s biggest fan, tweeted immediately after his dismissal, saying that he was proud of him.

True fans of the show can now breath a sigh of relief and get back to watching the talented dancers that are left. Each week that Spicer was saved brought more and more tension, hitting its danger level on last week's episode when many believed a much more talented celebrity was sent home before Spicer.  It also did not please viewers that Donald Trump Jr. would tweet to fans and urge them to vote for Spicer to upset “Hollywood” and “leftist elites.” There will always be questionable competitors cast on these hit shows as the networks never want to miss out on pulling in high ratings, but at least for now the ABC show can go back to being a proper competition based on talent, not popularity.
