Turn-based RPG Sea of Stars has confirmed its release window on the Nintendo Switch. The announcement was made today during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, an online streaming event that showcases upcoming indie games from publishers from around the world for the Nintendo Switch. The RPG was one of nineteen indie games announced, with four games already available to bring more joy for Nintendo players during the holidays: Dungeon Munchies, Let’s Play! Oink Games, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, and Timelie.

Each Indie World Showcase from Nintendo honors independent video game developers who craft fun and entertaining games for the Nintendo Switch. Back in August, the Indie World Showcase featured Necrobarista and Slime Rancher, the Nintendo Switch versions, among five other games that were available for play on the system. The most recent Indie World Showcase comes in time for Switch owners - or those hoping to have one under their Christmas trees this year - to play a diverse batch of enjoyable indie games.

One upcoming indie game, the turn-based RPG Sea of Stars, had its release window on the Nintendo Switch for Holiday 2022 confirmed on today’s Indie World Showcase. The game is coming to the system courtesy of Quebec-based indie Sabotage Studio. Sea of Stars is the follow-up to Sabotage Studio’s previous offering to the Switch, the Ninja Gaiden-inspired platformer, The Messenger. Along with the announcement of the game’s release window, Sabotage Studio also revealed a new trailer that shows off the game’s engaging gameplay.

Watch the trailer on YouTube here.

Set in the same universe as The Messenger, Sea of Stars reunites Switch players with Valere and Zale, the Children of the Solstice. Valere and Zale can combine their Sun and Moon powers to perform Eclipse magic against the evil creations of the main antagonist, the nefarious alchemist The Fleshmancer. The game’s soundtrack features music from Sabotage composer Eric W. Brown and renowned composer Yasunori Mitsuda. Mitsuda has also done work for the soundtrack of the iconic JRPG Chrono Trigger. Sea of Stars' prime features include captivating turn-based combat, dynamic visuals, and an unrestrained navigation system.

Players both new and familiar with The Messenger’s style of gameplay will be excited with the new game’s style of combat. Using six playable party members, the player must use adjustable strategies to combat opponents, allowing for experimentation in unlocking powerful match-up attacks. Character progression in the game proceeds along with the story without the need for excessive grinding. With all that it has to offer, Sabotage’s Sea of Stars should be a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalog.
