Rare has launched a dedicated Pirate Academy containing all the necessary beginner’s guides to make life in Sea of Thieves easier. This is a welcome initiative considering that the game is constantly growing over time thanks to regular updates with new gameplay mechanics.

Last month, Sea of Thieves was treated with a solid batch of new content adding new story quests and expanding the in-game’s lore dedicated to the Gold Hoarders faction. In addition to that, pettable dogs made their way to high seas enriching the tough pirate’s life with a bit of affection. And back in July, the Ashen Winds update added new flaming bosses who were able to breathe fire and drop hot meteors right on players’ heads.

Sea of Thieves might seem like a slightly challenging game when first approached by a newcomer. There’s nothing to be ashamed of as the open-world title features various mechanics and gameplay nuances that could potentially be a little confusing. To avoid these risks for new players, developers from Rare are introducing the so-called Pirate Academy - a dedicated section of the game’s official website full of handy tutorials and starter guides by knowledgeable authors. The first batch of teaching articles courtesy of Nine-Cat Nura has already landed with more being added soon. The Pirate Academy offers a helping hand in almost every aspect of the game - from picking a character to navigating the ocean. In addition to a plethora of valuable lessons, Rare has also shared a New Player Guide containing some basic knowledge about the pirate’s life in Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves Pirate Academy

With a steadily growing audience of devoted fans, Sea of Thieves indeed needs a conveniently arranged library of beginner’s guides. Earlier this year, the game hit a significant milestone by reaching a total of 15 million players worldwide two years since the initial launch. This achievement became possible mainly thanks to the title’s June release on Steam where it rapidly attracted a reasonable amount of players. To accompany the arrival on a new platform, Sea of Thieves received a special themed trailer highlighting the core mechanics of the game along with detailing the overall concept of the open-world adventure title.

With millions of new players regularly setting sails in Sea of Thieves, now is the perfect time for the Pirate Academy to be introduced. This is an undeniably helpful undertaking, which should be advertised straight in the game to assist those newcomers who find themselves lost in the game’s complexity. With a collection of accessibly delivered guides and lessons, Sea of Thieves is likely to attract and engage even more players in the long-term than it currently appeals to.
